Bargain buys thread

@johnny

I have these gloves. They are ok for maybe 8-12deg but useless for anything colder. The cold seeps through the stitching.
But I'm smol and suffer from Raynaud's syndrome.

The best gloves I ever bought were Tuff diamond toasty gloves. I still have them after close to 16 years and they are better than any other cold weather gloves I've bought since. Of course they are obsolete now :-(

The Fist cold weather gloves are not too bad and I think they are on special at the moment.

A mate of mine also has Raynaud's and has these:

When I've saved enough coin I'll be getting some. For now I'm using old gloves and homemade pogies 🤣

Interesting to hear, I definitely feel the cold and have found these gloves to be game changers in the past.

I use some cheapies that Mrs Cammas got me, they first sat around for a while as I didn’t think they would be much chop, well I’ve worn that set out after a couple of years as they turned out to be pretty darn good. Then somehow she’s found me a replacement set on Temu, of the exact same brand, which will get a workout no doubt this winter. I will try and find out what no name brand they are, as they are better than some brand I paid a hell a lot more than she did.

Spewin, I don't do facebook. thanks anyway though.

Haha, if you need a Pyga frame @johnny , let me know and I'll give you Goncalo's number.

Hey you keen eyed bargain hunters. If anyone spots the CrankBros Mallet Lace on special, link me up please. I'm back on the old blue pair due to an accident but keen for a new pair, maybe purple, or green... though open to other colours apart from maybe black or white. A few about at $250 but not in that much of a rush. Size 10 or 43.5 👍

Anyone have one? I am looking for a new lightweight full face.

I jumped on this because it was one of the options on my list, and had ruled out the Proframe RS because fit. After a bunch of research I decided to go with the M/L size but was a toss up as I measure right in the middle of their sizes (58cm). I have a roundish head but seem to fit it well. I have moved the BOA cradle to the innermost points but have left the thinner cheekpads and not sure the S/M would have fit my face. This has left me with a few clicks left on the dial, which I'd prefer over it being maxed out. Haven't ridden with it yet and it's my first time in a FF on the bike, so take with a pinch of salt. Overall it feels comfortable to me but will see once I use it in anger.

Also while not an issue for me, I've noticed that the lowest vertical adjust point on mine is blocked by the helmet foam, so watch for that if you order one and think you'll need to use that position. I went with the .... "bloody stool red" 😂 aka burnt orange version, but I like loud colours🤘
It's always weird getting other people's takes on helmets, one person's narrow is another's round etc. My direct comparison is with the Proframe RS model, which in the large felt like there was a lot of side pressure on top, yet even with the dial cranked had a heap of fore and aft play. I went for a spin up and down the street and the Trigger felt comfortable, no wobble and seemed like it had good airflow, but I sweat like a mofo so only a proper trail ride will tell how it fairs. Cheek pads still feel a bit firm against my face but it's a foreign feeling for me anyway, otherwise felt nicer than my POC Tectal.
Self quoting from a few pages back. It's since had at least a few runs and I'm stoked with it as something I could use at any event, because it runs cool and I do not. Stable, light, and plenty of adjustment. I can run it in summer on the local XC loop but obviously prefer the half shell, but the other day I went to a place further afield that had a skills area and I sorely missed the Trigger and would have paid the price happily in the pedally bits.

Also, since I love a good fashion faux pas, I run it with sunglasses which is where I'd give a warning - even with going for the large, glasses are a really tight fit on my melon head. I have two different models of Tifosi, one of which is new and hasn't yet had a run, but they're actually painful to put on and am a bit worried they won't work. Old ones are fine but there's not much clearance.

3 for $99. At Summit Price seems alright.

GoodYear Newton-ST EN Ultimate

Any good?
Also, lots of cheapish, for Summit, bikes for RB Titans.

Sweet! I pulled the pin on the yellow one as I like the bright colours too and the lining in my old Bell Super DH has just fell apart, so I need a new full face.

Cheap for a reason, I guess?
They were the first gen Goodyear mtb tyres (basically identifiable by anything called "Ultimate" from memory) and work well on hardpack and in drier, easier conditions imo - absolutely useless in wet weather. Do roll pretty well.

Edit: Newton and Newton ST are the older ones, ST is front specific. Replacements were the MTF / MTR (which are genuinely good, albeit chonky).
