Does act as a big sponge and just rely on soaking up sweat?

I sweat like a pig when it's barely warm, and have one of these. I find the silicon strip seals against the skin and acts as a gutter, to divert sweat off to the sides. Otherwise I'd probably have to take it off and wring out the sweat during a ride. It's thin which doesn't change the fit of the helmet.

Depends on your sweat levels. I tired a halo but found sweat still running down side of my head was annoying and it left a big dent on my forehead. Sweat buster soaks up heaps and I can’t recall having to stop and ring it out.

Shame, I tried mine for the first time on a ride tonight. The no pads and brow deflector thing would probably be very good up there. First time I didn't have sweat running down my glasses.
Honestly it's not a problem for me, the Giro pads are excellent for locking away sweat - I simply wring them out and wash them under water when I get home.

I have a couple of old Halo skull caps. They work well keeping the sun off my head and the sweat out of my eyes. These are both so old that the yellow band has gone hard and cracked. One of them I have cut/torn the yellow strip off. I have not noticed them being any worse keeping the sweat out of my eyes. I would love to find something similar that does not have that horrible yellow band digging into my forehead.
I did try another brand once, unfortunately I do not remember the brand, for me at least the location of a large seam was even worse than the yellow band on the Halo.

Yeah, I find that anything that has a raised surface will cause a pressure hot spot and become a real pain. I have trouble with sweat in my eyes and an absorbent pad only works so long then it becomes saturated, and you constantly have to keep squishing and the juice out. 🤪

It has worked well for me and one of the bonuses with this helmet. The post-ride cleanup is much easier too but you get those weird silicon drainage lines on your forehead for a while, oh well, you can't have everything :) A good summer helmet for the big sweaters.

The old adage was you either have a Bell head, which were more rounder in profile or a Giro head, which is more elliptical or some would say eggular. No idea if that this applies these days but Giro helmets in M have also felt good to me. I would put a lot in effort into growing a round head for a classic Bell Moto III though
MET helmets were the ones for me back in the day. My head is both elliptical and huge.

Hasn't been so much of a problem in these modern times, but I've found Lazer and Giant both sit on my skull nicely. Fox weren't too bad, just overpriced for the quality, like most things Fox

I just wear a cycling cap backwards for sweat - I sweat like a mudda trucker and without the cap no matter what time of year I'd be blind in 20 mins from salt in the eyes (I'm also follicly challenged).

Elliptical huge heads FTW!

I have rode in the past with a few MET fans. T've generally had Giro helmets but Oakley DRT5 in the bargain bin swayed me !

I had a halo one, the neoprene headband part was too thick and the yellow rubber bit dug into my forehead.

Any of the thin woven pirate bandanna things that cover the head and tie at the back are good.
not shilling for bikebug etc, just examples...

I've got a couple of gripgrab and santini ones. Any of the roadie brand ones will literally be made for the purpose.

Amazon and Aliexpress have a gazillion of them, just dO yOuR oWn ReSeArCh as to whether they will fit your head and the thickness of the material.
