Bottom Bracket question

I currently have an ISIS bottom bracket, following the CP100 there is a need to replace the BB which will be the 3rd in 18 months:mad:.
So my questions are
Do I replace the ISIS BB with a new one or upgrade to a new external XT/SLX crankset?
Which will give me reduced pedalling resistance/smoother running?
Which will save me more money in the long term?
Will I be able to service the bearings of the external setup myself?
Can external BB be fitted to a 2008 Anthem frame?

If you want to stick with your current set up get an SKF bottom bracket. They are bullet proof. Tested for an equivalent of 10 years riding so it should outlast your bike. You'll need to source it from OS but it'll be worth the effort.

Which will give me reduced pedalling resistance/smoother running? There is little difference between internal and external BB's of the same bearing type and quality...

Which will save me more money in the long term? Not riding in the mud...

Will I be able to service the bearings of the external setup myself? Shimano and SRAM say no - but it is actually quite easy to retrofit a set of Enduro bearings to the BB shell with specialist tools (they are quite cheap)...

Can external BB be fitted to a 2008 Anthem frame? Yes - external BB can be fitted...

Thanks for the replies, I've chatted with my LBS and he may have a XT crankset with external bearings going cheap so that might be the best option.
However if the funds aren't there then the SKF option is definatley on, just hope the LBS doesn't mind fitting it, or maybe I just buy the right tool.

Eyes not quite sure what the cryptic "10 characters..." means

The tools for external BB removal are actually pretty cheap so it might be worth getting one.

The 10 character is the minimum amount of text you can post in a reply and quotes dont count so Hornsby wrote 10 characters, see what he did there?
