Building a trail. Post it here. But please read first

OK,
If it's illegal it goes. I don't care "if no body owns the land" because that just shows your ignorance, land is always owned in one form or another and the all don't like MTB trails on their without their permission. (Crown Land, Council land etc).

Follow IMBA principles on building good trails. Focus on how you're going to get the water off the trail quickly. Avoid heavy braking as that creates ruts, think of rather grade reversals that allow riders to wash off speed.
Know what benching the 10% rule is, grade reversals and flow is. If you don't, don't build a trail until you do.

Oh and most importantly.

Don't put nails/bolts into live trees.

Hopefully we can expand this info for you guys to help each other out. Trails are great, we should have more trails, but we should take the time and effort to make trails that we are proud of.

Read and agreed. So will the scattered trail logs, legal only, be moved back here?

Good to see this happening, Thankyou Farkistrators :)

Something else to note, last time round when we stated trails had to be legal, suddenly people had very big back yards.

If it looks suss, then it may be moved. The onus is on you guys to show its legal, not for us to find out.

Hopefully we can see some good trail logs in here.

How about

Don't take treated timber into the forest, private OR pubicly owned the crap leeches out into the dirt over time.

Try to leave it as you found it not lookin like the council tip.

No choppy down trees.

Try to have a minimum impact on the environment.

Clean up your rubbish...and anything else that is dumped on the site.

Iv'e found a lot of objections to tracks in particular NS setups Illegal AND Legal, is they look really shitty and are an eyesore.. Have a think and try not to make the area look like a junkyard..

And as you moved my legal trail logs elsewhere, would it be possible to move them here;)
