Buy a complete bike or build my own?

I haven't built a new bike for a while, but when things are on sale...I've always come out well ahead of the shelf price and not had to worry about replacing this that and the other part I don't want by going custom up front.

Build your own can work out cheaper if your happy to get secondhand stuff and your patient and watch rotorburn, Ebay and FB like a hawk. To be honest though, if you don't have the tools its a lot less effort to go a complete build.
