GREG NORMAN, who played only two tournaments on the US PGA tour this year, has again topped BRW's Australian sports rich list of 2007 with gross earnings of $20 million.
Socceroos in the English Premier League were well represented on the top-50 list. Harry Kewell's gross income of $11m earned him a spot at No.2, West Ham's Lucas Neill was ranked No.8 ($7m) and Newcastle's Mark Viduka at No.10 ($6.5m).
Although his ranking has plummeted to No.21 in the world, tennis star Lleyton Hewitt still pulled in $8m (No.5).
Formula one driver Mark Webber, golfer Adam Scott, basketballer Andrew Bogut, and motorcyclists Chad Reed and Mat Mladin filled out the top 10. The top-earning sportswomen were both basketballers: Lauren Jackson (Seattle Storm and Spartak Moscow; No.48, $1.2m) and Penny Taylor (Phoenix Mercury; No.50, $1.1m).
Cricketers also featured heavily in the list. Captain Ricky Ponting (No.24, $2.1m) was just eclipsed by Adam Gilchrist (No.21, $2.2m), while Bollywood star Brett Lee (No.28, $2m), Matthew Hayden (No.34, $1.7m), Michael Hussey (No.39, $1.5m) and Michael Clarke (No.47, $1.2m) were all well remunerated.
Other notable figures on the list include MotoGP champion Casey Stoner (No.14, $4.2m), cyclist Cadel Evans (No.27, $2m), surfer Mick Fanning (No.30, $1.9m) and swimmer Grant Hackett (No.38, $1.5m).
