I haven't read a physical newspaper in years! Quick coffee today and look the smh is on the table. fuck me...the smh did not disappoint.

Yeah the tariffs will be fun

Mexico - booze and cars
China - consumer electronics of all varieties, bikes, cars
Canada - the biggest supplier of oil and gas to the USA!!
Most of the USA refineries can only process conventional oil and gas... Mostly from Canada. The US fossil fuel reserves in ground are mostly unconventional and are processed elsewhere... The cost and time to convert plants is prohibitive.

Trump will vandalize the US economy. Tariffs might eventually encourage more US manufacturing but overnight it is going to increase inflation. The US economy is currently OK the inlfation rate is down, but he sold the false narrative that it was broken to the morons and rednecks who are broke because they're poorly educated morons that are not quipped to adapt as times change. Only better public education will fix that but do they want that? No that's communism. By Trump's 4th term they'll realise 🤣 Tell me he won't use his majority in congress and the senate to change the constitution so he can stay on as long as he likes/lives!

I also have to say poo poo on the prosecutors for dropping the charges against Trump, instead of waiting to prosecute in 2029 after his term, notwithstanding the possibility of constitutional changes. Even if he gives himself a pardon - at least if nothing else it would provide some bad optics and another example of how integrity free the guy is. The only way America can fix itself is to boost funding of public education at all levels and other public institutions like libraries, community centres, parks, playgrounds, just like we do. Which ultimately means tax increases and the dirtiest, most despised term of all in conservative thinking; wealth redistribution 🤣 ...then those poorly educated morons will fulfil their working class destiny and rise up against the bourgoise and seize the means of production...

Depending on which outlets you're reading, the charges were dismissed without prejudice which means that they can be filed again and the presiding judge made some comments in her opinion pointing to it being worth testing whether the statute of limitations should pause for sitting presidents.
The forecast is that a non partisan DOJ could bring charges on Jan 20 2029

Thanks for the detail, I only saw the headline and never had the chance to read the detailed reasons for them not proceeding.

Christmas is coming get busy!
 
I think all of this will bite him on the arse eventually, but he'll tell America that he saved the world.

Countries like China will wait for the right time to retaliate and the US is only 25% of their exports in any case, not going to stop them from trading with the rest of the world.
