Not me again but a fuckwit I wanted to buy a bike frame off of. It was a nice carbon road frame my wife would use, he listed it for $535 ONO (weird figure..) Anyway I drove to his place and had a look at it. All good, item as described so I say to him 'would $500 cash be ok?' he's like 'nah sorry price is firm' I said his add says ONO and his reply 'yeah but I have 10 people watching it and 5 enquires if its available so its really hot atm so not negotiating.' As I only had $500 on me I walked away, my fault as I should have enquired first but what a tool. I'm selling my kids bike as well and it has 36 people watching it and 50+ 'item still available' bs questions yet it still hasn't sold.

Over a week since I looked at this flogs bike its still on the market.

That guy obviously doesn't put much value on his time.

Though it would have been better that you agreed on a price with him before you drove out there, it is rather dumb of him to not have just taken a $35 haircut to avoid dealing with time wasters for however many more days until it sells.

Reminds me of when I was a 13yo kid. I rode my BMX to a few suburbs away to pick up a computer disk someone was selling with some shareware games on it. Aside from a $10 note, I had $4.95 in coins in my wallet.. That was FIVE CENTS short of what he had advertised the disk for, and he said nup, no deal. I ended up splitting the tenner just so I wouldn't go home empty handed.

Maybe he didn’t like your assumption that he’d drop it to $500 and that’s all you brought.
The extra comments were probably unnecessary but if you only turned up with 500 I’d have said march on son too.

I woulda taken the 500 instead of dealing with a another second of time wasters who will probably never show up, or show up and offer 300 when they actually get there... Each to their own.

I actually have a history of biting off my nose to spite my face.

I'm browsing for a particular part and came across Tune Cycles. I thought, I'll check the RB trusted retailers/scammers thread.

Turns out I should just ask myself 🤦‍♀️

I did the same thing on the Fordforums a few years ago. Asked about if a particular brake pad would fit my car only to have someone point out someone else asked the exact same question 5 years before and I had answered it for them :p

Further to above, surely we aren't the only ones to do this... various friendship groups we have Facebook messenger group chats.

You can give other people nicknames, which everyone else can see except the person who is given the name.

Many years later and with everyone given weird names, it is easy to forget who is who, or that incorrect information you are quoting from years ago actually came from yourself.

My contribution, purchased a front wheel cheaply to replace a rear wheel with a dodgy rim. Measured it all up to work out the spoke lengths for dodgy wheel's hub to match the cheap front wheel rim. Ordered and received the spokes. Cut the spokes off the dodgy rear wheel fine, then googled to check if there was a process to extract the rim safely, ie is it ok to just cut the spokes?

Google said best not to and use a spoke let out the spoke tension to prevent warping the rim if randomly cutting spokes.

Spent ages loosening the nipples, but spokes still felt tight. Then after some time, the rim warped! Realised that spokes on the other side of the hub are a different direction...

Now looking for a 29" 32H rim that is around 603 ERD.. anyone got one?!

Might be one for this one. I have a group chat where everyone's called Jordan but I still know who's who.

If you want to ruin the mystery you can hit info then nicknames or group members.

Am rolling the dice on a DT Swiss XR361 rim which is on sale at crooze which results in spoke length about 1mm to 2mm too long or short depending on the calculator!

Did the classic. Mounted the tyre on backwards. Checked direction before installing it, then dropped the tyre while still holding the wheel and just picked it up and fit the tyre (sealant and everything...). Stepped back to admire my handiwork - "Fuck's sake...". Second attempt got the tyre on the right way but with the usual sealant spills all over the shed floor. Now I've just gotta build the bike for the wheels to go onto. 😂

Can do better. I have: rear on backwards. Take it off. Reseat it backwards again. Take it off. Get it right. Put the fr9nt on backwards. Aaarrrgggghhhhhh.

Mine for today. Got my mate to install the mucks trans cooler (extra). Hoist is very handy and refilling to the correct level is a pita therefore get someone else to do it. His Falcon ute was available for me to get home. Much more verbal bullshit later he throws me a new window switch module and I hear need to pop out the module. Thought that's strange but ok. So I grabbed a screwdriver and pick and open it up. Contacts, ball bearings and springs everywhere. What bit do you need? WTF?!?!? Mate says swap it out with the one in the Falcon that is rooted. Then he falls about laughing. Apprentice comes in, finds out what the fuss is about and also pisses himself. I spent the next 20 minutes getting the genie back in the box. On the 5th try if fits AND works. Tail between legs and drive home to swap the modules without supervision or derision. It worked.
