People put phones in silly places
Worst is an open shirt pocket so it falls out every time you bend forward.
I resemble this remark..... I should really know better

Ahahahaha I watched a plumber do that today except it was a 7m drop into a crusted up sewer pit.Yeah.... I had that happen once. phone in shirt pocket, leaned forward.... phone shot out of my pocket like a fat guy on a luge sled, and straight into a bucket of heavily salted water.
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU........
I was trying to get some stains out of fabric, IIRC, but only succeeded in killing my phone.
(EDIT: I can laugh about it now, it was a good 20 years ago or more. No, it wasn't the latest iPhone or Samsung Galaxy smart phone, it was a little nokia with a tiny keypad, back when manufacturers were prioritizing smaller & smaller)
I once dropped a digital camera into a giant frozen margarita.
It’s only funny when it happens to someone else.I drowned a phone when it fell out of my shorts pocket as I was getting out of my kayak. It could have had the decency to fall into the boat, but no, it bounced off the side deck and into the water. The water was less than arm's length deep, so picking it out was easy enough, but the damage was done and it died in my hand.
If a phone falls into a drink or water, it's usually a tragedy. It’s only funny when it happens to someone else.
There was plans for a ride this afternoon. Thought I'd give the scout a quick tweak and make sure things were tight and ready to roll. It's had a bit of use lately so a couple of things were a little loose...
...ping! I barely touched it and the head sheared off one of the shock bolts. Came off with a bit of force too. I suspect it had been under a little stress.
I feel your pain.So the local fuckwit has committed much fuckwittery lately.
We were given notice that our lease wasn't to be renewed as the owners daughter was moving in. We decided that the best way to move the bikes was to box them up, which also meant that the bike rack could be dismantled. I sold 2 frames on Marketplace and the bodgy road bike went to cashies. Forks were swapped around so the leftover complete bikes would fit in (the admittedly free) boxes from kmart bikes. We weren't able to get another rental so everything went into storage and we moved in to mum's place.
Also, I have not been riding in more than 6 months.

After 8 weeks of no fixed abode we've got a rental, and move in at the end of the month. I'd already booked some leave and have been looking forward to spending some time riding, so today we went to the storage shed.

Circled is 1/5 possible boxes containing the manik that I figured would be easiest to get sorted for a ride. Took 45 minutes to move everything and get that box out which contained the manik), then I realised that I'd swapped the 20mm thru axle fork for a qr one for storage, but the 20mm wheel was in the box. Cue small tantrum #1

The box containing the fork is against the wall to the left, and is inaccessible due to the amount of interwoven crap on top and in front of said box. Cue slightly larger tantrum #2
Fiancee asks if I have another wheel that will fit. Yes! And the box it is in is fully accessible! Crisis averted!
Repack storage shed and head home with bike box and wheel. Open box and remove bike. Where the fuck is the seatpost? Oh that's right, muggins put it on the road bike when he took it to cashies... Fuck! All good, can go back to storage shed tomorrow as box with qr wheel has commuter bike which has the same diameter post (I hope...)
Rightio, attach bars to bike, check headset and remove a spacer to get it all snug then flip bike to put front wheel on. Fuck! 20mm wheel has a 200mm rotor, which would be fine but I don't have torx keys (as it is I had to take advantage of supercheaps 20% off to buy a set of Allen keys)... back to supercheap later or tomorrow to get torx keys.

Putting the pedals on, I also don't have a pedal wrench and my shifter doesn't fit. Fuck! All good though, will go via lbs to trails. Still fucking annoying though.
To round this all out, my helmet, gloves, hydrapak, riding gear are all still buried in the shed. Kmart will be getting a bit of my hard earned this week... Fuck!
I have a Go-bag containing cheap sunnies, gloves, helmet, shoes and riding socks for ... reasons...I feel your pain.
Had to abort shuttles at Stromlo on the weekend due to not being able to find my riding shoes in my new house.

I hate that it gives you such a fright, the tube splits apart or it can distort tubeless so much that they are wrecked.I was repairing a tube puncture on my town/kid hauling bike. (It was a tiny piece of wire in the tyre). Put the tube back in, pumping it up.... BANG!
It was loud enough to bring the family out of the house to see what the fuck happened.
Good thing it was my slight deaf ear that was closest to the bursting tube. Turns out the tyre was rated to 30psi and I had it at 45psi when it exploded![]()
Yep, the tube has a 30cm split along it!I hate that it gives you such a fright, the tube splits apart or it can distort tubeless so much that they are wrecked.
Swapped the disc over this arvo, turns out the adaptor is for a 180mm rotor. Fuck!So the local fuckwit has committed much fuckwittery lately.

Armoured phone cases FTW!
I've dropped my phone often enough that the case has paid for itself several times over.
I have seen people riding, with helmets hanging from their handlebars.... same same...Years ago I signed up for a new Samsung Galaxy. I received the phone and the industrial case at the same time, excited to have a premium phone decided to check the phones camera outside, promptly tripped and dropped phone on pavement, screen cracked in 3 places.. Walk back into bedroom swearing and pissed with the phone case staring at me on the bed still in its packaging. Fun 2 year plan with a broken phone and me been to stingy to pay $270 to get the screen fixed.
I saw a food delivery rider on Saturday wearing a toy plastic fireman's helmet.I have seen people riding, with helmets hanging from their handlebars.... same same...
