Confessions from the fuckwits

I committed the ultimate sin and ignored well documented criticism of local merchant and pre-ordered some alloy wheels for a build. Was told they were about 3 weeks away which suited me ok and they were a good price/spec so pulled the trigger.
Half way through the three weeks I asked for any update on ETA and was brushed off, reminded of the three week estimate and offered as vague ‘I’ll get an update from the factory next week’.
The next week passed with no update and then the three week point hit. I contacted the company repeatedly over the next few days and finally got a response saying ‘wheels aren’t here yet. I’ve emailed the factory and will email them again tomorrow...’
Communication has been polite but the bottom line is the wheels are probably a looooooong way away and I’m not riding the bike while I’m waiting.
What a fuckwit.

Is there any catchy alliteration in said merchant name? I'm also in the same boat after buying some new brakes at a great price a month ago.

It's the first time I've bought anything from them so I'm willing to give them the benefit of doubt and blame the manufacturer who seem to be making a habit of supply issues.

Pm’d You mate. Doubt it’s the same place. Mine specialises in wheels mostly

This afternoon was nice weather. Decided to get in the ute and take the see-saw back out to the trails after repairing it. Quick trip turned into an adventure after about 50m in two right side wheels dropped into separate mud holes and the ute dropped onto its guts. Half hour of trying to get out followed by a phone call for rescue, including bringing the recovery gear I’d left at home.

Couldn't figure out why the bike was skipping gears and sounding horrendous in the granny gear last weekend. Put it down to difficult chainline, tired derrailluer and me maybe not sizing the chain correctly. Chucked a new derrailluer on to eliminate that possibility. Better today but still sounding nasty. Mention it to my riding bud who had a watch while I was riding - "Your middle derralluer gear isn't even touching the chain your top gear!". Guess who routed the chain through the derailluer leg wrong - twice. Managed to pull the derailluer plate and correct it, you wouldn't believe how well it shifts now!

Didn’t officially confess this here the other day...

Doing that glory build for the young local lad last weekend. @Plankosaurus frame came with 1.5 headset. Knocked out top only and banged in a 1 1/8, and thought I’d use a crown race adapter on bottom with the boxxers. Nope, it’s for sealed bearings, headset is caged. Knocked it out and fitted 1 1/8 lower.
Spent 40 minutes wondering why I couldn’t get the play out of the bottom. Tighten a slight bit more, it binds. Slacken off, it’s got play.
Checked numerous times that all the parts are in the correct way, everything seems right.
Clearly the headset is munted.

Let me just check that it’s the right crown race for this headset....

Wait...where’s the crown race?

Oh, there it is, on the ground next to the removed 1.5 headset.

Fit race, check bike is perfect, and promptly facepalm myself with a very greasy hand.
