Converting 2X 105 to 1X

To try and see if my wife likes it for the trainer can I just remove both chainrings and fit a 40t 110 BCD NW? I already have it running 11-40 on the rear with a goatlink.

Assuming the crank is 110BCD then yes you can. What series 105?

You don't even need a NW if it's only on a trainer.
