COVID-19: who’s going full doomsday prep on this?

Not that straight forward though. These countries have experience in dealing with Ebola and a lot of structures are already in place for outbreaks. Put it this way, it's been in Lagos for months but there are no reports of bodies piling up in the streets. It may be the same for northern Africa as well, given the MERS experience, I'm not really sure. I think South Asia, Central Asia, South America and Southeast Asia are the trouble spots. Then again, maybe termperate zones with higher rainfall will have advantages, not sure.
Not sure either, just pulled up this article.

This leaves Africa in desperate need of resources. For example, Central African Republic, home to nearly 5 million people, has just three ventilators.
Tragically, Africa is no stranger to crises, including pandemics. In 2014 Ebola swept through West Africa, killing more than 11,000 people.

Lessons emerged from this experience. One was the power of rumour and misinformation – especially in dense urban neighbourhoods. For instance, it was said that Ebola always kills. The claim created panic and led to households hiding sick relatives, resulting in fewer reported cases.

If i was to do a no contact delivery of stuff to my elderly parents should we use soemthing om packaging of the items i handled?
My parents are both in their late 70s and my Mum is in the very at risk category. They've been isolating since before it was officially recommended. My sister and I have been getting them supplies, we use their garage as an "airlock" for non perishable stuff we just place it in and leave it there for a few days, if they need it sooner I've suggested they spray it with metho or wipe with soapy water and disinfectant. Perishable stuff is a bit harder we try to buy it bagged as much as possible so they can do something similar, but obviously need to do it straight away.

Definitely should have gone to specsavers
Twitter is an appropriate name when it gives platform to idiots like that. Twatter would be better.

Double bag? Things like cereal we're opening the box with gloves, tipping the internal bag out without handling and ditching the box immediately. Then with clean hands we empty the bag into the Tupperware

Yeah, and that was over a week ago. I had a number of retorts to him written out on the work Twitter but felt that keeping my job was a better outcome in the end. IPA are ideologues and he is the ring leader for that circus of fuckwits.
Id love to know if they actually believe the shit they spout... Not sure what would be worse - true believers, or simply in it for the cash...

Either way, their crap and the influence they have in the LNP is dumb and dangerous...

Watching IPA videos at 4am in the morning, you have changed dude! You should be sleeping in and stuffing your face with chocolate by now :)

The IPA always stop short of explaining how their ideas will work in practice. As I lean more libertarian I agree that we are over governed these days but don’t agree with their solutions or the blind eye they turn to their mates when arguing principles for change.

Best example is their recent rehashed attack on the public service pay and conditions that “everyone needs to share equal sacrifice” in this crisis. How socialist is this FFS. I think we need to help those in most need first the look to rebuild at the right time.

They proved that even with their own man in the top PS job they were utterly useless in driving change for a better public service but won’t mention that he got the sack.

The IPA could have a point if Tina Arena is struggling but the IPA hates the arts so too bad for her :)

The catch is organisations like this aren't interest in equality or freedom for people. They just want deregulated workplaces so they can screw their workers, cheat on taxes, and say up today to consumers. So they aren't libertarian, they are exploitative. Of course they don't want total deregulation, well not when it allows consumers to purchase products cheaper from overseas ...

lol. Insomnia is a bitch, but watching this shit doesn’t help!

Everyone complains about big government until there is a crisis...

Isn’t there a whole issue with people living under high voltage power lines that they try to get away from stuff like this?

Extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields, say high tension power lines, have been linked to increases of childhood leukaemia rates. Adults, effects are swamped by everything else in modern life and cannot be quantified it would seem.

A shit ton of research has been conducted in this area.

An old mate Joe, now dead, designed most of this nations critical energy scada systems back in the 60s and 70s. His theory was high tension powerlines were not a risk from VLF emf but from acting as an antenna picking up higher frequency noise from the universe.

A few AFL Football clubs here 20 years ago had a therapeutic machine that generated 20-30,000 volts. The “patient” sat in a bathtub of ice water with an insulated cable around their neck. I was asked to fix a faulty machine. The stupidity was staggering, it was like north Korea’s idea of final destination 9.

There must be something in the therapy though, a bunch of afl players searching for peak performance swore by it. What/how I have no idea.
