COVID-19: who’s going full doomsday prep on this?

My work just had our welder resign a week or so ago due to the mandatory vaccine laws.

He has young 2 kids, I kind of figured that he would just get the vax for their benefit alone.

Have heard since that he plans to fall back on his other qualifications (Training and assessment). Which of course will have a mandatory vaccination policy.
My company has mandated it before SA has mandated it in our sector, similar to BHP. 31st Jan all employees must have both jabs or start using annual leave, then disciplinary action.

There are quite a few horse-punchers at my place, one bloke even counting down the days till he gets put on 'forced' leave, 75 was the shout today.

A few others, while very vocal, will break down and get them before the date.

I reckon its because we have been so sheltered in SA from what has been going on, when it hits here, a lot will change their tunes.

Things are just getting stupid now. high school kid is restarting band practice. But you cant play anything without a mask on. wtf does a trumpet player do in a 90 minute practice when he isnt allowed to play?
If he can sneak into a night club and onto the dance floor, he can take his mask off and them maybe play the trumpet?

I still have contact with a few companies that supply "Computer Tech" work to business's - Essentially they have told their staff that vaccination is not mandatory but if business's they service only want vaccinated staff on site there will be no work for you to do if your unvaccinated.

Has any one else noticed the proliferation of FaceBook groups promoting the business's in the area that will accept Unvaccinated as well as Vaccinated? - The whole thing confuses me in that if it is Government mandated you can't serve or seat unvaccinated people how are they able to serve them and not get fined or closed - I have now gotten to the stage I no longer care if your vaccinating for your or others health just get vaccinated so we can shut up about it.

Scooter conveniently stepped into the shadows again and left it for the business owners to tussle. I suppose in order not to offend potential voters. Let's face it, they probably couldn't manage it anyhow.

I'm sure the same unvaxxed accepting businesses would be overjoyed if I turned up with chickenpox, the measles, diphtheria or the whooping cough and pushed for my rights in the name of equality for all too. The 'herd immunity' idea has pretty given a free pass to anyone that chooses not to get the shot and in turn reinforces their stance until they end up in an ICU with a tube in their lungs.

Social media powered Covid has unhatched such deep stupid ideas. If someone that could have got the shot and chose not to get it then ends up dying then all the power to them. Kick a home goal for team Darwin.

We've got an anti vaxxer at work. They've been working from home for the last ~18months as most of us.

Now with the return to the office being iminient, they're considering sacking him because of his stance and not being able to perform his duties at the office. Will be interesting to watch given the ability to perform the role from home.

Vaccination status unrelated but what is with the push for people to return to offices? Surely this was a brilliant opportunity for companies to reduce their overheads and environmental impacts from everyone commuting to work.
Commercial real estate and reviving the CBDs that are now empty (In sydneys circumstance it had nothing going on except corporate offices and casinos but that is apparently the most important thing to save)

customers i've talked to have medium term leases so they're looking at massive downsizing office space but they cant do anything about it for 3 or more years

There is a whole industry built around the office worker that has massive impacts (food - transport -clothing etc) also don’t discount the mental health if a lot of people getting that social interaction with real live people on a daily basis.
