Craftworks ENR

What's with the funky chain line? What are the benefits of running it like that?

When it comes time to replace the chain, do you have to buy two and join them together?
Allows the pivot to be placed higher than the chain, without the associated pedal kickback.

The latest Mountain Biking Australia magazine is now on the shelves. Go and buy it!
It's got a review of the Craftworks ENR; here's a snippet:

"The ENR builds and maintains downhill speed like no other bike I've ever ridden. In fact I don't think you can appreciate just how much your current bike is making you work for speed until you've ridden the ENR"

I love my Banshee Rune, it does everything I want better than I can, but I'd love to have an ENR sometime.

One of these would have been nice. My DHR208 took a hiding back in the day........ although I did need to paint it possumbourne blue before it was put together. The boxxer dark red was a bit much

No, that's a bargain

2400 for a frame. I'd love one, bet it rides great, but seems a little high to me.
Or you could pay $3500.00 to $4000.00 for an alloy Yeti or Santa Cruz frame (if you could even buy one.....)

Yeah but can't compare to Cruz or Yeti. I've been looking at direct sales from Europe who they'd compete with.

I however am very normal. Trust me.

2499 is about the same cost as buying a Rune or Spitty frame, with a similar quality shock, and more than half the price of carbon wonder bikes from Santa Cruz, Specialised, Yeti.

The price seems to be reasonable to me.

Only issue I have with the ENR, no XL!

Why not?

What is the basis of not being able to compare?
If I can have one of these delivered to my local shop (or to my door) and have to deal with the manufacturer in a different state as opposed to an importer in a different state (who is at the mercy of a manufacturer on the other side of the world.....), I'd say it's pretty close to apples for apples.

Yeah I suppose, though it's one frame, one colour, two sizes that is the entire range, not multiples like Banshee in many sizes. It's in Oz already. These things should make it more competitive. But then again maybe you can contact them direct and get a deal... I don't know. Just my opinion in which I think are good points. But I've not run a business so I don't know.

The closer I look at the ENR the more impressed I am. $4800 for a really good build seems better value than the normal big hitters like an alloy Specialized Enduro. And it has Pikes rather than Yari's. And most Alloy 160mm frames seem to sit in the low to mid threes.

Yea I'm Rec Retail prices but I could see one in my shed...

Get in people! If only they did an XL....

Any plans in the future Hugh for something for the bigger riders? Either the new version of the FRX or this?

Thanks for the interest @wkkie and @Oddjob,

Yes, we are planning on doing some longer sizes.
How tall are you, and what sort of reach figures would suit your body size?

Cheers,
Hugh.

I'm just a tad under 6 foot 3, and I'm currently riding an XL Kona Process 153, which has a 510mm reach and stock 40mm stem. I find that pretty comfortable. My last bike was a large FRX V3, which was fairly cramped and I was running a 60mm stem.

And are you still working on a new FRX or just tweaks to the ENR?

Put down on a frame minus shock.
Will be building it more for descent with 170 36rc2 and CCDBA and 1.5 degree slacker headset. And custom black stickers for black look.

Frame is built up just need to run hose and cable. Impressed with the quality in the detailed stuff. Was going to black out the decals but I like it as it is. Looks sharp and can't wait to test her out.
Pics up soon
