Terrible news but good to see things sound like they are on the mend.

Jens Voigt is inspired by Gordo and hopes to be as tough one day.

Gordo

Gordo is pretty banged up, but knowing his resolve, and character he will recover as soon as any human being can. He will need a lot of work but as he says, this will only make him stronger.

One of his specialists has seen 24solo a few times, so we know he is in good hands :)

Our thoughts and prayers are with him, Anita and family around him in these very tough times.

They can rebuild him!

Then he can hunt the bastard down who did this! Anyone know where he was riding?
Good luck Gordo! Hope to see your black flash come past me at a race in the near future.

Wishing you all the very best on your recovery Gordo, you will be back stronger than before. Awesome the way you guys fly through the courses. Look forward to seeing you in Canberra again soon.

Gordo is truly a genius gent and I know I am wishing him all the best... All my non cycling mates who i regale regularly with stories of Gordo supremacy wish him all the best... Hell, my nana watched 24 solo with me after the Paterson Kona 24 and she wants me to pass on all her best!

When I made my film of the 24 world Champs last year, Gordo didn't have to be in it... Probably could think of anything worse with a broken shoulder, etc, and being a somewhat private bloke. But he made time to chat and be a part of it. I've never met anyone so focussed, driven, yet open and amusing. I'll never forget meeting Gordo for the inspiration he is and just can't get over the injustice for him personally of having to be off the bike for more than a day!

If you don't know who Gordo is, grab a copy of 24 Solo and when the tough bugger gets back, make sure you say g'day at the next race you see him at.... He'll be saying the same to you out on track as he passes at warp speed... a streak of black RockStar outfit and white teeth formed into a perfect grill! Hopefully that day won't be too far away.

All the best Gordo and Anita, see you on track soon!

Spotted in Wollongong...

Saw Gordo today (31/12/11) riding around Wollongong. His first MTB ride since the accident (So the above posters mate is blind). Said he has been riding his road bike a bit, still battling some injuries particularly around his shoulder which is making it a bit uncomfortable for him.

Typically the man is fully committed to getting up and going and said he may race the WSMTB 4 Hour that is coming up. Pretty amazing given the nature of the injuries he had only 6 months ago.
