Crank length changes, your experiences?

moved from 165 to 170mm cranks due primarily to price. The change made me time my pedals better, havent had any strikes of yet. I do prefer the pedal feel of the 170s over the 165mm

There's 165mm SLX on AliExpress.
Got a link for that? Not that I need cranks at the moment, but I've been when I was on the search, plenty of results came up, but all were 170 or 175 cranks. Only 165mm I found were the SenicX and other brands. That said, the SenicX have been going fine for 600km or so now, so I'm happy with the bargain cost they were.

On other matters, I might have some 175mm Shimano & SRAM Cranks in the shed if you're abstaining from the Kool-Aid!

I'd like some 165mm cranks for my Ripmo, there doesn't seem to be much out there. Want Shimano but have only found SRAM DUB readily available.
What are youse using ?
In a similar boat recently, searching for 165mm cranks that weren't DUB Based**, I ended up with a set of the AliEx SenicX FM3 cranks in 165mm.

They're a Shimano axle, running SRAM 3-bolt chainring mounting style. So far they're still solid, but the bike they're on isn't a hard abuse bike, just commuting & gravel. Check out the AliEx thread for more detail as I've posted all about them there.

**Actually was searching for cheaper DUB based stuff on Ali, but 165mm were fuly out of stock (still appear to be now too), so ended up with the Shimano axle version.

I also have a set of the SenicX FM3 165mm cranks on my mtb. Probably don't quite have the same amount of k's as @Isildur has just yet, but I have happily ridden them down the blues and blacks at the YYs with the odd 1m huck to flat thrown in (mind you that's about the extent of my aerial escapades, but probably harder on the cranks than tabletops and doubles I suppose).

Just ordered some 165s and getting ready for that kool aid hit.

It will change your life.

I’ve yet to have a serious pedal strike on the Ripmo but grazed plenty of rocks with the tip of the crank arm. However my spidey sense is often telling me the pedals are within a mm or less.
I prefer plastic ahem composite pedals for hitting rocks with, takes the edge off the jarring somewhat.

I've had 165s for ~3 months. I haven't noticed the difference but may when I actually take them out of the box and install them on the bike.

So I installed them on my bike replacing some 175mm cranks with an oval chainring. I had a fairly easy ride Sunday, 16km/500m elevation. First while is a road climb then onto the dirt. Noticed the cranks fairly quickly and felt like I didn't have as much power at low cadence but I also went from oval to a round chainring which impacts that.

I will see how I feel on my next rides. I was feeling stuffed after weeks of too much work and not enough exercise or sleep. My trail bike still has a 175 with oval so I will see how I get used to this and may try oval on the 165s. I'll be keeping these on the enduro bike but will see how I go and maybe put 165s on the trail bike too down the track.

Had a ride this morning, felt normal and not lacking any power on the climbs. I'm not into power measurement so you won't get anything more from me on climbing.

I was hoping this would help with tiring of the rear leg on descending. I'll comment after some big rides with long descents.
