deore cage on xt der

i bent the hell out of my xt cage and now im running a plain deore rear mech, i was just wondeerin if it would be allright if a put the deore cage on the xt mech?

Wouldn't hurt to try... I imagine it'd fit, I think they use the same size fittings for almost everything. If it does fit, there's no reason I can see that would prevent it working...

yup, i've done it before with a STX rc (deore) and a 9 speed XT
i'll try and find a photo.

i dont know if the xt mech is out of allignment or not, if i look at the mounting point and the cage mounting point, they dont look at the same angles. r they spossed ta be?

This happened to me the other day my rear derailler had some issues with my spokes and came off second best. bent the hell out of it. I replaced the back plate with a deore one but had to drill out the threads of the deore plate because the XT screw comes in from the back where as the deore went in form the front. with all that sorted and a bit of hammering i managed to get it pretty straight. still too bent to use the seventh and eighth gear though.
