ITS HERE

After some input on bike build for my wife’s new bike - she’s paying!

She is coming off my 2011 specialized S-works Evo 150mm

2 bike shops have provided quotes

Shop a is a CC custom build
Shop b is a C R full build

Juliana is hard to find here so both shops are ordering in from US with a 4 week wait.

Bronson is already sold out in her size so would have to wait same time for Bronson and well it’s the ladies choice.

Shop a is a 20 hour return drive
Shop b is 3 hour return drive

Shop a is just over $1k cheaper

See pic for build sheet

Hurts. Requires Money. And is nerdy.
20hr trip for a bike, fuck that mate get em to post it to you.

Unless you can wrangle that trip into a riding weekend, in which case bugger it why not.

Dealer arrangement means they can’t post frames.
When I got the stumpy it was about 1.5 hours drive out of Melbourne. Coming from Sydney I Did a FIFO and hired a car.

I guess if shop can’t post there might be a friendly burner who could do it for me ;)

i presume like most shop/dealer agreements they can’t post anyway

why they shipping M ladies with 175 cranks, would have thought they could go shorter
That’s the standard Santa Cruz spec. XS-S gets 170 M-XL get 175
I could go shorter I guess on the custom one, with eagle there’s enough range.

Merry fucking Xmas to you assholes
Can't you get a courier to pick it up? Should come in at less than $150.

understands stuff moorey doesn't
Shop A with a new Pike to save a bit of weight and courier the bike to you.

Then tell her it was shop B and pocket the $1000.......use this for a dirty weekend away together or stash for your own upgraditis...winning :p

Well it seems like it’s not going our way.

Been told the frame is no longer available from SC USA Have to wait for new frame batch to drop mid to late September. Bonus points for now being in a colour my wife hates.

Options are:
She hates the new colour frame and I will be to blame

She likes the new Juliana maverick, but it’s a 29” and our wheels and fork won’t fit.

She gets the original frame from SC UK but it’s gonna get hit with the whole VAT/GST import duty fiasco.

Any advice?

Have you looked at the SC dealers in NZ? Some of the Juliana team riders/ambassadors are based there and every time I go over I see heaps of them.

If you find one, fly over have a weekend riding and bring it back.

Does it absolutely have to be a Juliana bike?
Knowing what you know about frame availability, would you be willing to wait again for a warranty if an issue arises?

It's really hard to support local when local doesn't support you

Had a quote for a frame/fork.
Paid a deposit.
Was told it would be 2 weeks.
One month later I'm told there's no stock available for another month and that the quote was 50% under (based on old pricing), plus the exchange rate had dropped and I could no longer get the original price....
All too familiar!
