Have you guys put any thought into actually doing some trail work on the Eildon track before you actually ride it? I know for a fact that it is in pretty poor shape and it definately needs some shovel love before the Vic DH Series comes to town. I guess you will need to get permission to work on it as it is on private property. Eildon hasn't had any maintenance on it since at least '05. Maybe everyone should do an hour on it in different places before you ride it..

Change of some rules!!!

Hey all,

After an FTF meeting last night, it was decided to review some of the rules that we were going to apply.

The NO DOGS rule has been changed to accomodate a more family friendly atmosphere. We understand that some people enjoy bringing their dogs along and it can encourage more families to travel away to events with their pets.
BUT...... All dogs MUST be on a leash at all times and must be kept well under control at all times. Owners must also clean up after their dogs. For events which are held in Alpine areas or areas that dogs are not allowed, NO DOGS will be permitted.

MANDATORY SAFETY ITEMS.
In the interest of safety and for the continued longevity of our sport, the FAT TYRE FLYERS have decided to introduce a rule to enforce mandatory safety items to be worn at any FTF event. This includes the ride day at Eildon.
The items that must be worn in order to participate are:
FULL FACE HELMET
HANDLEBAR END CAPS
GLOVES
KNEE PADS OR KNEE/SHIN PADS
EYE PROTECTION (Goggles when possible)

This rule will be trialled and enforced at the Eildon Ride day and feedback is welcome.

This rule is not being introduced to increase your costs, decrease your comfort or single anyone out. There is a very small percentage of riders who choose not to use these items or dont realise they should be wearing them, so it really wont change anything for most people.
This is being done to increase safety for you as riders but it goes a long way to show to outsiders (parents, friends and INSURANCE) that the riders and organisers are taking responsible steps to look after riders.
We have taken dramatic steps to introduce much better first aid at events and this is going to cost a lot, so we need to make sure we are also doing heaps to stop people from getting hurt in the first place.

So at the Eildon ride day, make sure you bring your gloves, goggles and knee pads!!!!!

FTF also strongly suggests the use of other body armour such as: elbow pads, full body armour suits, proper DH shorts or race pants, neck braces, and the use of 5-10 shoes for flat pedal riding.

All these products will be available for sale on the day at this event and all VDHS races this year!!!

Get there and ride!!!!!!

Shit that's a bit stiff about what we have to wear but at the same time is good, just means I am going to have to get some Knee Guards. Evo here we come :D

Why the 'gloves' rule?
You've just crushed hundreds of future 'Blinky's' dreams.

I for one am FOR the idea of mandatory gloves...... just can't see it sticking though
