Electric Vehicles etc

Mate copped a $400 fine recently for obscured number plate, that's in QLD though not sure if same in other jurisdictions.
Technically it's illegal in any state, just depends on the local police and if they decide to pick on you. Same goes for anything being in front of the plate like a bike rack.

Yes, got pulled over by Highway Patrol last year

After telling me he pulled me over due to the obscured plate, he walked around the ute. I took my bike off the rack and put it in the tray then pulled the rack off and put it in the tray

He finished his lap, and told me one tyre was getting close to illegal. Then sent me on my way
(no ticket!)

I had a really shitty old XD Falcon wagon many years ago. Far from road worthy. The indicator stalk had actually snapped off and I had a screw driver stuck in there.
Saw a police car pass me the opposite direction then swing a U-turn and follow. Uh oh.
Finally pulled me over and came to the window and said my plates were obscured. They were so faded you could barely read them.
He then looked down at my screwdriver, paused, took a step back, looked at the rest of my jalopy, then looked at me in my tradie clothes and tools in the back and must have decided it was too much drama and said get the plates replaced or else, walked back to his car and drove off.
I got the plates replaced.

Well, that was good of him. Totally within the law to fine you.

I have been keeping an eye on proceedings and liking Polestar or Countryman but in a twist of fate I have had wind that someone I sold a car to 28 years ago is maybe looking to offload it...might be going to the completely opposite end of the spectrum (+1 might need some convincing on this)

We're plotting and scheming building the business case to get work to get me a BYD Shark.

Questions though. What are the headlights like on BYDs in general? Standard car lights have been shite for decades. Can I bolt on spotties or is everything CANBUS driven in these things?

from my understanding i think it's a bit more difficult to put on driving lights to ev's but not impossible but i do not beleive it's a DIY job anymore, at least for the time being.

maybe im wrong but that's what i have heard though i've never needed driving lights.

ATO wankers, was considering a BYD Shark until

But RAMS are a tax deduction wtf

I reckon the Hobart BYD dealer is busy - am seeing a lot of shiny new Sharks about!
Yup. Read somewhere 300 Sharks to be delivered in the first month. Lots of popping here in SA and house 2 doors up now has one and car dealer round the corner is now a BYD dealer too.

This is pretty much the reason I refuse to vote greens anymore. It's like since bob brown left they are cutting off their nose to spite their face ofr whatever that stupid saying is.

FYI Greens wanted PHEVS off the FBT discount listed cars due to ideological views.
The Greens poo poo’ed PHEVS? Well there goes my vote.

The greens were right to exclude PHEVs. They do not contribute much at all to emissions reductions, especially as most owners don’t plug them in.

What are you basing that on? Shirley if you buy one you'll use that function to save petrol costs.
Based on people being stupid and lazy. Especially ones bought on leases - real world use tends to be putting petrol in mostly.

TLDR, they're not really any different to a Toyota hybrid when it comes to real world results.
