Electric Vehicles etc

Wanna explain that to my Israeli overlords?

IF they approve, it will be for the financials, not the environmentals
Nothing to explain… Standard consumer laws. If it’s service by a qualified mechanic the warranty stands. Does not have to be the dealer, they only need to see it for a warranty claim or recalls.

BYD sent an email out 5-6 days ago saying they were upping the warranty to 6yrs bumper to bumper, backdated to all cars sold since 2022. HV system has 8yrs.

Before that certain parts of the vehicle had only 3yrs.

Great new as obviously they have had great reliability with their EV's and the missus Atto3 is at 35000km trouble free.

The only thing (apart from the offroading) that would worry me about the Shark 6 is the engine and long term reliability, sure the long warranty will look after it for for 6yrs. Their long history making electric vehicles is very good but how reliable is the 1.5L petrol engine.

A software update sorted out the towing but the offroad performance is not good... so far.

Isn’t the motor in the Shark the same as the Sealion 6? Or at least similar, they seem to be reliable but yes longer term will be interested. Just wanting BYD to release an entry level Sealion 7 (Dynamic).

A BYD Seal wagon or liftback hatch would be friggen sweet too. Too many EV sedans (or sedans generally) with tiny boot apertures.

That would be awesome. Rumours of a Hybrid wagon but not super good looking.

100% agree.

There will be some much better looking options come the end of the year.

Just looking at that back shot ...rear visibility looks like it might be compromised a bit.

True but just to make sure you don't run into issues use a genuine oil filter and the correct spec oils. Make sure everything is on your invoice E.G. oil filter part numbers, oil type and kilometers.
I see some shit invoices from after market repairs when things go wrong with nothing to help support their warranty claims.

Yes indeed. Don’t give them any excuses :)

Xpeng P7+ is also on the list for us.

It is advertised as a sedan but the boot is more like a hatchback/suv size.

but it is not small. it's like 5 meters long and 1.9 meters wide.
