Electric Vehicles etc

from my understanding i think it's a bit more difficult to put on driving lights to ev's but not impossible but i do not beleive it's a DIY job anymore, at least for the time being.

maybe im wrong but that's what i have heard though i've never needed driving lights.

I think one of the problems Taddy had was he went for the clutch and then it was a WTF moment. I see they have now banned elec motorcycles at the X-Games. There a whole world of hate on E anything. https://electrek.co/2025/03/14/the-x-games-just-banned-electric-motorcycles-for-being-too-good/
not a car, but damn they look like (quiet) fun

ATO wankers, was considering a BYD Shark until

But RAMS are a tax deduction wtf

oh dear.. how's your mileage?

The case claims the issue stems from Tesla’s odometer system, which apparently does not produce mileage readings based on direct physical measurements of distance traveled. Rather, Tesla odometer readings are estimates of distance traveled derived from predictive algorithms, energy consumption data and driving behavior patterns, the suit says.

The man claims in the lawsuit that although his consistent driving routine should have averaged, “by generous estimates,” around 20 miles per day throughout the following months, the vehicle’s average mileage surged to 72.35 miles per day.
....
“As a result of this increased mileage accumulation, Plaintiff’s Basic Warranty expired well ahead of schedule – when the odometer read that the vehicle had reached 50,000 miles,” reads the lawsuit.
...
Shortly after his Basic Warranty expired, he noticed “a decline in the vehicle’s reported average daily miles” despite driving longer commutes. He claimed that the decrease in miles was “more closely aligned with his historical data on his other vehicles” and commute at that time.

I reckon the Hobart BYD dealer is busy - am seeing a lot of shiny new Sharks about!
Yup. Read somewhere 300 Sharks to be delivered in the first month. Lots of popping here in SA and house 2 doors up now has one and car dealer round the corner is now a BYD dealer too.

This is pretty much the reason I refuse to vote greens anymore. It's like since bob brown left they are cutting off their nose to spite their face ofr whatever that stupid saying is.

FYI Greens wanted PHEVS off the FBT discount listed cars due to ideological views.
The Greens poo poo’ed PHEVS? Well there goes my vote.

The greens were right to exclude PHEVs. They do not contribute much at all to emissions reductions, especially as most owners don’t plug them in.

What are you basing that on? Shirley if you buy one you'll use that function to save petrol costs.
Based on people being stupid and lazy. Especially ones bought on leases - real world use tends to be putting petrol in mostly.

TLDR, they're not really any different to a Toyota hybrid when it comes to real world results.

For clarity

- European report. I'd say Aussies who invest in a PHEV will in fact charge their cars more than european counterparts who do not own garages/standalone homes.
- Part of the data is comparing WLTP vs real world claims which affects all cars

- A similar study is under way in Australia, with the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) finding discrepancies between ADR ratings and real-world results in a smaller but more specific sample size. - Wait and see, but I suspect they will be at least twice as efficient than equivalent ICE cars.

Either way, they take petrol, they’re not zero tailpipe emissions, no free kicks in a policy designed to get emissions down.

Not my area though. There was some work done that was Australia specific I think. Could probably find it, but either way PHEV were rightly excluded
