CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT
Two club members have been expelled from the club due to their direct involvement in the destruction of State Forest within Central Coast Mountain Bike’s permit area. On October 15 2015, Forestry Corporation NSW was successful in prosecuting a CCMTB member of two offences under the Forestry Act 2012. The magistrate ordered the offender to pay $3550 in fines with a conviction recorded against the person's name. The courts decision and penalties reflect the seriousness of these offences. The other member has been expelled due to their direct involvement in the building of unauthorised trails and destruction of the forest within our permit area. After being officially notified of this by FCNSW, CCTMB enacted it's rights under the Clubs Constitution and moved to expel two members in relation to these events.
The Club is deeply disappointed in the actions of a few and the impact that is having on the Club and potentially all those who enjoy riding the trails at Ourimbah State Forest.
Any person found to be creating tracks/trails within the permit area, without written permission from the club, are potentially in breach of the Forestry Act 2012 and the clubs Permit Agreement. Part of the permit requirement and our own Trail Maintenance Policy is that any new tracks/trails must be approved by the landowner (FCNSW) and CCMTB.
Moving forward from these events the club has been formally requested by FCNSW to demonstrate a pathway of improvement with a short, medium and long term plan for where the club intends to head. This is the priority for the committee for 2016 and we are focused on delivering this to FCNSW which will, in the long term improve the trails, infrastructure and relationship with the land owner (FCNSW).
