wow

never actualy heard of them before but it looks mint for its age!!

would have cost abit??

That is awesome on so many levels, haven't seen a set of Kooka cranks in years! Love it, can't help on the fork front right now though but I'll make a few calls. I am just a little jealous. Should post it up in the dinosaurs thread too, a place where appreciate the older rigs.

The most beautiful bike on Farkin.net. Simple, effective and great to look at.

I have tried to find a Yo with 1" 1/8th in 20 inches or larger for many years now.

The search has just been re inspired.

this was top end stuff when i started mtbing 20years ago. nice to see one of the old bikes up here. i used to ride a gary fisher with elevated chain staye and loved it . good on you

Thank you Emmett!

Can't wait till i get to ride this bike at Lysterfield Lake Park.

The only thing that's missing (and i'm still searching for it in the deepest storage places in my house) are the Nuke Proof hubs.

Yes remember Nuke Proof hubs. They weren't the strongest hubs about...

Is your frame a 98 as you state or is that a typo? It looks a little older to me.

Fork wise a few 1" Marzochi forks of a similar vintage can be found relatively easily. I was going to say what's wrong with the Mag 21, but there was never much right with them even when new ;) I may have some parts to fix it if you are interested.

Turner Rider: Yeah, to tell you the truth i can't really remember the exact date. I know it was around that time lol. Well it's been a while. It may even be a 1996 frame.

The Mag 21 is leaking on the top seal.

I have actually found someone who has an old working Rock Shox Judy.

So i'm hoping in 2 weeks time it will all get sorted out.

I remember Nuke Proof. Weren't they also available in silver or some spooky clear sort of thing?

Apparently you can work out what year and where (Massachusetts or NY) your Yo! was made by looking at the serial number.

What flavour Judy are you buying? A yellow SL I hope;)

If your bike was mine I'd be plonking some Paul's v brakes on. They'd suit the build perfectly and be far nicer to use than XTR Canti's.

More pics and history please:D

Cheers,
Emmett

Yeah that is correct. You can work out what year it is made by looking at the serial no. The only problem is, some years ago (when the bike was sitting in the garage after 5 years or so) I had this great idea to spray paint the bottom of the BB where the serial number is because the paint was chipped and i was scared of rust. So now i can't identify it.

What i know is:

1) it has 1" headtube, which means that the frame is before 1997 (they change to 1-1/8" in 1997).
2) The Bottom Bracket is threaded, so the frame is made after 1990.
3) The anti-chain suck was introduced in 1994.
4) mine was made in Massachusetts and they decided to split the business in 1996 and did it in 1997.

So by approximation my frame is made either in 1994, 1995 or 1996.

I don't know what Rock shox Judy it is.. I don't have a lot of choices anyway. I will have to take what ever it is. As long as its working i'll take it.

Yeah i use to have those Paul's brakes. I can't remember what happened to them. I may have thrown them out for some reason.

...Anyway, tell me what you guys think about my Yo.

I think your Yo is crap and that you should give it to me. ;)

IMO, you should get your Mag 21's reconditioned. They don't perform like a newer fork with nagative air, but they'll affect your geometry less than anything else you can find (except for a Manitou 1, of which I have 4... :) ). Earlier Fats were never made with suspension in mind. Chris Chance was a mega rigid stallwart.

But seriously... give me your bike!

That's just wonderful!

I had a friend in Sydney a few years back who was a complete Fat Chance freak, by the name of Kevin. I think he had three of them - a 92ish Yo! something else, and a '96 vintage Titanium. God, they were lovely.

Regarding 1" steerers, I have a few Mag 21 crown/steerers in the shed. How long must the steerer be for you? I'll have a look - not sure if they're 1" or 1 1/8" but one was once plugged into an old Orange, and they were 1".

I've also got a pair of Mag 21s with a broken lower leg but excellent internals. It's a 92 model, rather than the 93/94s you've got. I'd be happy to give you some parts if it kept your Mag 21s going!

Thanks everyone.

I found a Second Hand good condition Rock Shox Judy.

I'm gonna install that in my bike soon.

This Yo is going to stay with me F.O.R.E.V.E.R even if i don't ride it anymore (due to size requirement)

my yo

yoeddy.JPG . My Yo before I repainted and updated.

Now it is

xtr m900 deraillers, brakes, shifters
Ingleheart forks (guy who originally welded the yo's)
white ind hubs
steely dans cranks.

I'll see if I can get a pic... it's now white
Just bought a nice set of caramba cranks that I might throw on it.
