Fat Chance - Yo Eddy

That is sooooooooooooo awesome. Ever thing on there is just pure old school gold .

If you could track down a Mag21 SL (the shiny gold ones) that would be mint. Having said that getting hold of one of those in '95 was hard :p.

Wait, with the old Mag 21 you can unbolt the crown from the stanchions, so couldn't you just buy any 1.125" Mag 21 in working order and swap the crown and hence steerer??????

Hi Guys,

Though i would update what has happened since my last post in 2011.

I put my original Fat Chance 1" rigid fork back on.

I also replaced the Velocity rims still laced to my original XTR.

Took off the Kooka cranks, cause the rings was worn out. Replace with original XTR crank on there.

So everything is still original circa '93 -'94 ish other than rims and v-brakes.

The bike is now used on family ride days pulling a child trailer.

Funny how this bike started life as a full on race bike in '93 -'94 with me as a teenager racing it. Then when university and work took over it was kept in a garage for approximately 5-7 years (only took out for the odd cleaning/dusting). Now its back up and going again pulling my kids in the child trailer around the bike path.

So, hopefully it will stay around until my daughter is old enough to ride it.

I've got a near mint set of 1" threadless Judy SL sitting on an old bike. About 1994/5 model, bought them new to upgrade the giant iguana 540 I bought new for gf at the time (now wife....)
Any good to you?

Ten years on and this is still such a dream build. I completely understand why you’d swap back to XTR but man those kooka cranks really were something. I had a pair that came on an old colnago roadie of all things, they were already cracked when I got them though sadly
