Getting rid of paint

I want to remove the paint from my raceface cranks to make them look new again (and also white would look crap on a black bike).

How should I do this?
Is there any way of getting the silver underneath even shinier after the paint is gone?
Is there any precautions I should take?

Also will the bare metal ruin the cranks, and do I need a coat of paint or something to protect it from rusting?

Would paint stripper damage them?

That is why bike companies have their warranties voided if someone repaints a frame, because if they use the wrong product to get the original paint off.

an option would be to just paint over them.

Shiny silver looks so much better than spray paint silver, plus it CAN'T rub off.
