gday mate, looks like your fairly new so welcome to farkin.

just a friendly hint, farkin has its own search function so you can find out information about most bikes on here simply through that, and im sure there will be alot of info on the glorys.

anyways welcome once again and i hope you are happy with whatever bike you buy :)

cheers
kieran

Topics like this one have a better home in parts n stuff.;) That is it's new home!

hey mate, im looking to get a glory in the next year or so also.
i would go the dh1 (one with boxxers) because as you said your mainly downhilling and a bike of its calibre will easily withstand oxford falls. even though the glory 8 is more freeride orriented, and some aspects of its spec list are 'nicer' it would be fairly even to the dh1 in freeride but lose out in the downhill arena spectacular. so just my opinion, each is entitled to their own but i think the DH1 is the way to go

hey mate

I am considering a Glory Comp too just for Oxy Falls. I have a Sunday but I have found it not the best suited bike for Oxy Falls

I had a chance to test one yesterday, the Glory 8's are a lot of fun at Oxy but if you are doing DH at other tracks go the DH version.

If I buy one it will be purely for the huckfest at Oxford Falls, using the Sunday for everything else

I bet you wish you thought about ya user name a little more and called yourself giantglory08 hey.....

Maybe the mods will change it for you.

I was just in your situation aswell.
I ordered the DH1.

In short, the DH1 has better cranks, rims, X9 derailleur, forks and also has an e13 guide which you will definitely need if you're going DH.
However the Comp has better brakes.

I couldn't resist with all the goodies of the DH1 :D

Hit Oxy Falls with a Glory 8 yesterday & today.
That bike is sweeeeeeet. Found it so much easier to hit the big drops and woodwork then my Sunday. Much easier to pull up front wheel due to TT being shorter. Sunday was faster thru the rock gardens & twisties tho but its more of a DH bike. The single crown forks made the bike more controllable thru the air and technical sections Guess u gotta decide what you want to do more of but i am pretty sure the DH would handle the FR stuff at Oxy fine. In fact I have seen a heap of guys ripping up Oxy Falls on the Glory DH.
I think the Glory 8's are the perfect bike for Oxford Falls as its not a pure DH track and more FR orientated

hi
After thinking about it for a few months finally decided the glory was the way to go. Then the 08's came out and I had to decide between the DH1 and Expert. Leant toward the DH1 for the value, looks, full downhill etc but then tried the expert and finally decided on that. Got a good deal in Adelaide. $3800 base price, added E13 DRS and swapping Totem's for 66 SL 1 ATA's (apparently more reliable, smooooth, and travel adjustable plus also like to try some Marzocchi's after a few pairs of rockshoxx) total of $4080. Cant wait to pick up the bike next week.
Think the specs are way better, Mavics (same as DH0), Codes, top of the line single crowns etc. Should be a good strong reliable bike. I am a biggish guy, 6 foot 3, 87kg.
New to duallies so would have liked the full DH bike experience but thought should be able to do most DH on it PLUS jumps, freeride etc. More versatile with the single crowns and dual ring. Also easier to go single crown to triples if ever want that, with the full 1.5 headtube rather than the 1.5 and 1 1/8.

Yep I just picked up last years Glory 0 for $3400 , I went last years instead of 08 expert because it came with the 66 SL1 ATA (would of liked the codes on the 08 Expert tho)
Single crown definately better for freeriding, jumps etc

Hey mate, i had the same problem to :( If your really going to just use it for DH i'd go for the dh1 but more edging to the FR side then the glory 8. I recently bought my DH1 and its such a smooth bike:D IMO. The pedaling on the dh1 is awesome. Bit crazy but i can do some firetrail climbs on it. :p
Honestly stick with the DH1 if you really like Downhilling.

07 Glory DH

I'm selling (after next weekend...'cause I'm actually going to use it once this season) my rarely used 07 Glory DH (medlium) if you are interested. I think the 07 model was spec'd a bit better than the current DH 0 even, and rrp was $5500.

Let me know if you are interested.

the 8 is more of a freeride bike and the dh1 is more of a DH bike, so if you do more freeride go the 8 if you do more DH go the dh1, IMO I would go dh1

and does anyone know the price of a glory dh1 frame?

also take into consideration if you intend to do any climbing as the Glory 8 is better for this than the Glory DH (longer TT and stepper HA, lighter)
