Gravity Enduro timing questions

Stredda

G'day all.
Our local club down here in Northwest Tassie is looking into running some gravity enduros soon. We have just purchased a Jaguar timing system which is easy to time laps type race but we are not sure how to handle a multi stage gravity enduro. How are some of the mainland enduros timed?

Cheers

The Sportident system is the best without going to full World Cup style chips (which can still cause issues). You can hire the equipment and chips from Aussie O'gear http://aussieogear.com/ . Software can be purchased for about $150 (annually) from Sportident UK. Everyone from Qld around to SA is using different variations of this gear.

I looked into the Jaguar system briefly but did not get far enough to see if it would work for GE.

The other option at club level is to use stop watches and combine times at the end of the day over a beer. It helps to have someone good at excel for this.

We use Sport Ident here in S.A. we found the system where you physically punch in the finger chip into the timing system the best.
It is the most accurate and adds skill to the racing. The guys at sportident and ozzi gear are amazingly helpful as well

for cheap and easy (any one with a smart phone or tablet can be the timer)

You set it up as a lap event with multi-device timing and exclude the "laps" that are neutral zones.

ie timer 1 does start
timer 2 lap 1 this is timed run 1

timer 1 lap 2 this is excluded so just starts the time for the next "lap"

timer 2 lap 3 this is timerd run 2

etc with as many timers and timing points as you want. lets you run live timing to so people can check the progress from their own smart phone

can be a little fiddly until you get the hang of it but it's cheap and easy and stuff
