Great, now I don't like my new forks - Pyga Hyrax build thread

Yeah, not much too it @johnny. A tube of Sliko or similar and a bottle of Supergliss 68k or Motorex 5W racing oil and you have every fork covered. Then a socket set that you probably already have.

I rarely replace foam rings, just roll them between paper towel using a spray can of some sort of round rolling implement till they have no oil left in them, then soak in whatever bath oil you are using.

Its all on YT and they'll feel great after.
@johnny

That was really helpful, thank you!

I can manage that.

Might get another Lyrik and treat this one a bit better.

Still shocked at how easily this one became unserviceable though.

Same happened my boys Pike and Lyrik a few years back, I thought I was keeping up on servicing but it seems they needed to keep up with the cleaning as well, which didnt happen. Nothings changed BTW and they'll be 19 & 20 in a couple of months

Dirt in the seals, circa 2020 forks, scrubbed the surface off them.

Anyone running Ohlins RXF 36 Air?

Yes, if it's one thing that bike (except for drive train) hasn't had, it's a clean.

I've got a spare set in the shed if you are keen. Only done a few hundred km when they were replaced by Mezzers.

I'm not really a bike cleaner myself but the dust gets sprayed off it after every ride, concentrating on drivetrain and fork seals. Just a gentle mist is all it needs.

Same here, I don't wash the bikes that much either.

I use old pantyhose or a silk rag to get the fine dust off the stanchions and rear shock body. A paint brush to dust off the pivots or any other rotating bits. Takes all of a minute and it seems to help a lot. Post ride stanchion dust offs are also stated in the fork manufacturers manuals if you need to get picky.

I've had some really poorly sealed forks BITD so these post ride routines are second nature to me now :D Just have to do it or would be changing fork oil as frequent as changing underwear.

Not having a bike with a rear shock in a dirt catching location helps.

Pulled the trigger on a new set of 2025 Lyrik Ultimates - the wizzbang ones with new damping system.

It was either them or the Ohlins. The Ohlins looked a little simpler to service but they are 100gm+ heavier and $200 more than the Lyrics, which I got a bit of a discount on from Cyclinic.

Now going to check my rear Ohlins shock for wear! Probably better get that serviced soon!

Where’s the photos? Does it go boing?
These are the 2025 super duper version, they go boiyoiyoing.
Buttercups?
Buttercups.
