Green steel, carbon & Wood(s).

It's Not Easy Being Green
Single high pivot, custom geo, Australian made, steel, adjustable shock position, gearbox, belt driven, beast! Almost in the stable, awaiting pickup in a few weeks.

I've always wanted a steel, single pivot dually. Not always with the high pivot, but giving this one a go. I went very short with the chainstay length to keep the rear more playful and given it extends through its travel, it gets to roughly 437mm at sag. With the adjustable shock mounts, it can go down to 150mm travel with a 230 x 57.5mm shock and up to 200mm with a 250 x 75mm shock. It runs a 22mm main pivot axle with PF30 bearings.

Some of the numbers:
505mm reach, 64 deg head angle, 78 deg seat angle, 425mm chainstay, 420mm seat post length, 1285mm wheelbase, 20mm BB drop. Clearance for a 2.6in tyre out back.

Looks awesome. What a fun project @wkkie

Do you reckon there will be a level of 'compliance' in that back end with thin tubes and no seat stay brace?

What type of steel is this?? And who welded it??

pull the white plastic of the woods emblem too, it’s giving me the jitters

Not sure about that. I don't think anything has been intentionally designed in, in terms of flex.

There is that brace behind the main pivot, which is fairly high, so it might help with that. And it is a fairly short rear end... But really, I don't know! :p Time will tell!

This thing is epic, wow!

As a rider of a steel single pivot, can confirm, rear is very.. compliant. This will probably be less so with a shorter distance from main pivot to shock mount, a more substantial brace under the rearward shock mount point, and a bigger beefier main pivot.

Have you got the frame yet and ridden it?
I like the external cables and gearbox.
Has the headset bearings as the pivot given you any trouble?

That's the one!

Bit of info since I got it home. I took the box and shock off and gave it a weigh. 4780g with shock hardware and the idler.

I also had the chance to install the headset and seat post clamp. Too busy a weekend unfortunately to finish the build, but hopefully on Monday.
