I picked up one of these the other day with the idea to run it on the chest mount.

http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=16

However, I can't angle it up enough. I could flip it upside down and set it to record upsidedown in the menu when the firmware update comes out, but I think the added distance the camera is from the mount when it is upside down would mean that it might shake more.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or how to tilt the camera up more on the chet mount? Maybe pack some foam under the bottom of the mount?
Yep you've got to run it upside down in the chest mount to get enough 'up tilt' I tried the pack foam under mount idea but you'll need a shitload of it. When mounted in upside down you want the angle between the backing plate and the body to be about 45 degrees. Also run the the straps SUPER tight, minimises vibration.

I can't wait for the firmware update to come out....whilst it's easy to flip it in an editing program it's just annoying you can't easily watch the raw footage...unless you hang from the roof anyway :p

Great camera, After using it for the last couple of weeks I changed the back door today before going for a ride to notice the clip on the top had snapped when doing it up :(.
Covered under warranty but yeah not happy.

The second picture shows the other side has a slight crack in it. Now the wait for a new one to be delivered :(.
I noticed this could be an issue with the camera almost immediately as the force required to shut the door using that clip is pretty high. It needs to be obviously so the door will seal down to the crazy depths they say it will. I overcome this by 'clamping' the door shut as much as my can with my palm/fingers before flipping the catch over, greatly reduces the force on it.

Just thought I would update for those that wanted to know. I emailed GoPro HQ and they sent a replacement. I asked around the local stores but they only had stock that was from the old standard wide hero (a little bit different in the sizing)

Customer service in the US is awesome. Can't say much for the same in Australia as it is all third party dealers who go back to GoPro HQ.

Having it upside down is the closest you'll get it to the chest plate in my experience, just make sure you use the mount that sits closest to the clip (the one the housing is bolted to in this pic - http://www.vettemods.com/Images/GoPro/IMG_0729 (Small).JPG) . The only alternative is to use two of the connector rod things to sit it further out so you can tilt it back further. You can put some foam or cardboard or whatever under the bottom of the plate, but then you have less of a flat surface against your chest. There are some other details on this page http://www.leelau.net/Misc/GoPro/feedthehabit/

had the clip snap exactly the same yesterday. Ill contact the us for a replacement. Pretty impressed guys, a camera guru last week told me that the gopro has a little bit better image stability which you can see if you compare the vids. For DH i think that the R3 mode works best which is the 720p @ 60fps as this seems to cope with the low light and light changes and the faster frame rate and wider angle which you do not get in the R5 mode(1080p @ 30fps)

Most editing software has a flip capacity

This looks pretty crap cause youtube sucks, its about 1000 times clearer on the original

guys, get Cyberlink Power Director, this has the ability to edit and upload videoes automatically to youtube in HD, you just enter ur account log in to the software and it uploads and rederes for you.

720p does have a wider feild of view than 1080p too.

The camera is great (but it is horses for courses when it comes to choice at the moment - hard to beat the price though)

... as for this answer though (and your first response that lead to the question)... well the first thing I thought when I read it was "you have just been a knob twice, well done". The guy asked a simple question, and given the effort you have gone to in the post, I am still left wondering whether you do have a vested interest (heck, half the guys WITH a vested interest do not go on as much as you have here :)) I have not looked at my post count lately - don't really care what it is - but when you react so poorly to someone questioning your motives I can feel free to call you out as either being a dick or that the bloke was right the first time and this is an ad dressed in 'so happy a bought it' clothing.

Tone it down... and for christ sake stop driving a Dodge - it makes it too easy for people to call you a dick :)

It still produces a working mpg file, the file is called "produce **" **= the file number.

It is mainly stored in the myvideos folder or my documents folder. SO dont fear u have no workable file...it certainly does that! Took me a few weeks to figure it out too..lol
