i just bought a giant rincon frame 2007. it comes with cane creek ball bearing headset as shown below but the bearing is a bit worn, so i'm planning to change the headset without changing the cup (i can't be bother changing the cup because i dont have the tool) so can i just buy something like cane creek s-3 and use the cartridge bearing? or i have to use ball bearing for those cups?

You can make a headset removal tool pretty easily. Get a piece of 1 inch steel pipe about 30cm long, put four slits in it about 15cm long with a hacksaw, fan the cut bits out a bit and you have a ghetto headset removal tool that works just as well as the pro tools.
