Hey Guys, I am in desperate need of help so please don't flame me. I am getting a new Dh bike and I have narrowed down to 4 bikes. All 4 are 2008 and brand new, Bikes are; Norco Team dh, Iron Horse sunday expert, Giant Glory dh0, Kona stab delux. The link to each bike is attached below.

The norco team dh I can get for $5400. Has a very good spec list I thought, Not to keen on the frame geometry but I have been told I will get use to it.

The iron horse sunday I can get for $5000. Has a pretty poor spec list for the price of it, Most of the spec is equal to a $3000 dollar bike but I feel you pay alot for the brand iron horse. Frame geometry is nice and other than some of the spec it is alright.

The giant glory dh0 is pretty close to my favourite at the moment. Love the look, spec and geometry. Can get one for bit less than $5000.

Stab delux is a bit cheaper than the rest at $3990. Pretty well spec for the price and nice look. nice geometry and all. This is going to last for a very long time so I am thinking I should get something with better spec. I reckon well I have the money I might as well spend it so yeah probly the least keen on this one.

EDIT: hey I was in town today and checked out every bike. I sat on the giant glory and it felt yuk so thats out of the picture. Went and had a ride of the iron horse sunday expert and it felt like heaven and it had upgrades on it. The brakes were upgraded from juicy 3's to 5's and the derailer from x7 to x9. The price was also dropped $500 to $4500. Thats sounded good so I am pretty keen on that. Rode the kona and the norco team dh but didnt like them enough to buy them. Also went in to the bike store and looked at something I never thought about which was the demo 8 ii. Rode it and checked it out heaps and absolutly loved it. quickly sorted out a deal and it is $6000 and maybe could go lower so I am realll really considering this. any opinions on the demo.
thanks
Adam

My favorite would be between the Iron Horse and the Glory. Alot of people have Glory 1's. So go they iron horse. Have you ridden any of these yet?

I reakon go for the giant. I have ridin' my mates one and am niw byuing one.
I was looking at an ironhorse world cup but there realy expensive.
Don't get a kona stab cause 1. everyone has one and 2. when you seat down and ride it feels like your sitting on the top tube.
Go the glory, DH0 or DH1.

i own a sunday and they are a great bike but for what the giants are selling for they are worth every cent. the giant may slightly not be as good (in my opinion) but are worth the $$$

Little bit.
I have a sunday frame for sale. You could build up a HELL of a rig for 5grand.

I'm not kidding either. World cup spec. I could even help you find parts, all new of course. Let me know.

Cheers,

Chris

I would personnally go the kona. I know everyone has one but you could buy it off tbsm cheap and then spend the extra 2 grand or so upgrading it.
Or as the other bloke said you could build a bike from scratch.

Hey thanks for your help. I am leaning more to the giant mainly because of the value for the money. If anyone has a giant dh0 could you please tell me some negatives such as first things so break ect.
Thanks

"Because everyone has one" is NOT a negative feature about a bike, it is a POSITIVE!

End Rant (Sorry).

Dude I know you are looking at a new bike, but for that money you can get a ex-team bike like a Yeti 303, Intense M3, Santa Cruz V10 off the pro for sale section specks would be better and the rigs would be perfectly looked after.

Get something different!

Don't be like everyone else. I'm sure you could find something great for $5000.

But if you really have to, get the DH0

:)

Also, I am about 175cm tall what size would I ride.
I'd say a medium. But it's personal preference.

You know how I said I could build you up an amazing bike for under 5k.

Here it is, better spec than all of those bikes.

Edit I know your not interested in it but I did it to see if it was possible. and it was :p
And that link shows an empty wish list. Take a screen shot of it.

I'm with him.
If I had that kind of cash, I'd get myself something like this: http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=125500 .
You wouldn't have to upgrade anything for years, all you'd have to do is service it & you'll be the only lucky prick for miles to own one.

One of the traders who advertises on the top of the site has stab deluxes for $2800. spec it up with the cash you save.

Edit; like what the guy a few posts above said...didn't see it, but we both think its great value

If it was me and I was going to buy new I'd get a Sunday TEAM from: http://tbsm.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7_15_18&products_id=208 . Also they were selling the Elite for $4995 at one stage and they will probably have a sale for end of season clearances. The team has a great spec and an awesome frame. On another hand the Stab Deelux from Yarra Valley Cycles for $2800 is certainly something to seriously consider.

If it was my money I'd buy something second hand in good condition and not too old. About 4 months ago I was in the same position as you and I wanted to buy new. Had about the same money to spend also. Getting this: http://www.farkin.net/forums/showthread.php?t=124173 was the best decision I've ever made. It is in great condition and when I got it everything was running smooth and in great condition bar a couple of scratches which will just get there in a couple of weeks anyway. It has a fantastic spec list and couldn't be happier with it. Something to think about anyway.

As for sizes, try to have a sit on it before you buy it but you would probably be a medium. It is personal preference on size and what bike you like the most but just get what you want not what other people say as you will be more happy with the bike.

Good luck
