HELP! QANTAS test via Previsor

So I've applied for an engineering apprenticeship with QANTAS and I've managed to get through the process and the phone interview. Up next is the Technical Competency Screening Assessment (on-line) which is provided by the company Previsor.

i was wondering if anyone had any experience with the actual test (longshot I know...) or has any idea what sort of thing I should expect and/or study for????

Stranger advice has been sought out on here, so I thought I should give it a go.

Any advice will help.

Back in the renaissance I was trying to get an engineering cadetship with a couple of big companies and regardless of school results I had to sit a couple of similar type exams. Both were of the same ilk and a mix of English comprehension (read and answer questions), write an essay about something that means a lot to you (prove you have a brain and can read and write), a bit of general knowledge (you don't live in a hole with your head up your bum) and some gr 10 maths and physics (can play with numbers and add up). Didn't get offered the cadetships but could have any apprenticeship I liked. DUH. Bit of a process failure there but I probably failed the psyche tests that were part of the cadetship tests - Imagine you are standing on the top of a tall building, right at the edge with no handrail. Do you feel the urge to jump off? YES. What attracts you to working in the oil & gas industry? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and so on. Sometimes honesty isn't the best policy. Good luck and don't worry about the current IR bullshit which is just a whole bunch of childish games between two groups that should know better. Just a pity innocent people who have no influence on the outcome get inconvenienced by it all.

Wow you really have no idea, firstly there is 3main unions that are conducting PIA against qantas. Secondly if you believe anything that is a publication it is all lies. there is actually 7 EBA's that are being "negotiating" be qantas and qantas negotiation style is offer a pre printed eba with the standard terms of forever.

Look at it this way the CEO got a 70% pay increase, bringing his salary to a $5000000 he is currently earning more than most CEOs bar bank CEOs. Yet the profit was average at best and yet another year of no return to shareholders. Further than this the board of directors received on average a 60% pay increase. The TWU and Engineers were asking for 5%. I am unsure what the pilots are after. The latest 1000 people to lose their job most of them were in eba discussions. Pilots and engineers made up the majority of the staff. But if you want to talk to me more about it PM me.

In regards to the original post are you applying in Brisbane or else ware? don't be upset with what I have said qantas is a good company to work for once the current directors stop raping the company for profits.
 
I did an apprenticeship with Qantas and now work at Virgin. Send me a PM if you like and I'll give you my mobile number. Sounds like the application process has changed a tad, but will offer any assistance I can. The Qantas process can be a shit at times. What stream are you applying for? Structures, mechanical or avionics?

There is a few things you should be aware of when applying. Some trades will take you a long way, some wont, some are rewarding, some are not. Some will earn you big bucks, but take time and effort...

Don't listen to the EBA and union jargon... Qantas management will say anything to the media to make the workers look like the Achilles heel in the company!

BTW, if you really enjoy what you do for work, and it's not just something to do for a job, it can be a very rewarding career.

Actually I have a better idea than you could possibly imagine however I was trying to suggest that the OP not let it worry him. Happy to discuss OT elsewhere............. I agree the CEO is setting himself up for a fall given his own pay and conditions but I also think the industrial process leaves a lot to be desired. Over and out.
 
^ or maybe one of the few skilled trades left smart enough to hang onto their union so they are not left high and dry whilst arguing what workplace conditions govern them for the period of the agreement.

Just get a copy of on of Mr Howard's AWA's and you will see...

Don't let the media pull the wool over your eyes. Media driven entities are wealthy and I guarantee they are in one form or another shareholders in the "Australian" (yeah, piss butt) "airline" and want more profit, if what they are making isn't enough already (greedy mongrels), at the employees expense.

Employees make the company. Those on the floor. Management come and go, Qantas is what it is because of it's skilled labour.
 
OT:I'm going for a ride tomorrow in Sydney (around the area of Martin Place) and probably have a look see on the occupation

Hey guys, I'm really sorry for not replying for so long.

I passed the previsor test, and an assessment centre and a one on one interview. So i've finished the medical, and i'm still waiting to find out for sure whether or not i've got it. About a 5 to 1 chance i've got it apparently.

Tossed up whether or not the forget about the position and stay in uni, but I've decided to stick with it.

I can't thank ToranaJudd enough for that PM, really really helped. You probably don't know how much that helped.
