I've been fooled by the "posture rod" before, but about after the 5th time I'm wise to that trick ;)

I did have one of these at my old job but talking to the occupational therapist they are only good if you maintain good posture, if you don't it's as bad as just sitting. Maybe that's where the "posture rod" comes in:eek:

2 of my mates have fractured vertebrae and undergone some pretty hefty surgery...both of them have amazing posture where the machinery is!

Sooooo - Saw specialist yesterday - he is happy enough to operate / lyrica / injections - He wants to start with a guided injection as it will also confirm we are on the right track with the symptoms I have - if I feel great when they give me the local (for the guided cortisone) but no better when that wears off its surgery straight away - if I feel better after injection then do injections until they don't work then operate - Pretty much put operating off until absolutely have to.

Only shitty thing is after being reassured injections can be carried out in Bundaberg - Rang 1 place "Oh no we don't do those" / Rang 2nd place "Maybe we do drop all the info in and we will ask" - So looks like a trip back to Brisbane for injections.
Surgery is Keyhole with Overnight stay wham bam done - i am still thinking just do that.

Yeah I skipped injections and went straight to surgery. Spoke to neurologist and he basically said “yeah you can try an injection and it will work for a little while or I can operate and it’ll take the pain then it’s on you to not herniate it again”.

Yeah I was keener on the final fix solution - His rationale for at least trying the injection is a confirmation that the surgery is a correct option to. So was keener for injection and I am just so done with it all I just don't care anymore.

Injection took place on 5th of November - Gotta love they sit you down for 20 mins and explain the possible side effects and death of having the injection- then you sun a form to say ok I knew I might be a quadriplegic or have a stroke.
Pain went away in the neck for the duration of the local anaesthetic the cortisone did nothing - there was no reduction in elbow pain or numbness - shoulder pain on lifting arms was also still there.
Operation now on 20th Dec - keyhole surgery super quick recovery it seems and no neck braces etc.
Form an orderly queue to be included in the will - very little mountain bike stuff left now but.

Didn’t dieded - Surgery went well - Surgeon very happy - sorest but is my throat from all the tubes they had down there - can’t really swallow - stuck in bed for now - I am ok with using the bottle to pee but refuse to shut in the bed - so they then start offering me Movical as they have noticed no bowel movement - almost snapped at him saying no so fast :) - when I can get out of bed maybe :)

Good news there @Minlak. How long they got you in bed for?

Those tubes leave the throat feeling pretty rough! Careful there aren't any more to come.

I had the exact same experience :D
I had to lay flat for 24hrs and I was determined not to shit in bed. Using the bottle was one thing but taking a dump and handing it to the hot young nurses was a line I wasn’t prepared to cross.
It certainly was a relief when I was allowed to get up out of bed and onto the toilet lol
