Twas my first Fling this year and I must say I was very impressed (did the Half Fling). Rego etc was very well organised, rider etiquette was great and the atmosphere of being in the forest with a couple of thousand of like-minded souls is top shelf. The course was very well marked and great to ride, except for the bastard grassy hills. May I reiterate, grassy hills, you are bastards. I will confess to having a "Whose farkin idea was this, why am I doing this?!" moment on the grassy climb up to the 10km to go marker but I got over it. Was happy with my time too (2:57).
My one gripe: the t shirts. They are utter shite and look more like an ad for Baker's Delight than anything even remotely associated with mtb. "Best Fling Since Sliced Bread"? Give me a farkin break, lamest mtb event shirt ever produced - no mean feat in itself. Had the design been advertised at the time of registerig for the event I could've saved myself $35.
Congrats to all who completed the event in it's various formats. Hopefully someone called the mental health specialists in to cart away the plonker on the unicycle.
