I don't think the trails I like to ride exist in Australia.

Sounds to me like you ought to build something yourself.

Get a couple of mates together and find an old bit of state forest away from houses. You can push through a trail with a couple of mates over the course of a couple of weekends, then every time you go out there do like 2 hours trail work then ride. We have built some awesome tracks in this way. And given that it will only be you guys riding it, it is much quicker to build because you dont need to make it all rock armoured and stuff.

The best place is a forest that has just been burnt. Pick a line and rake it and your good to go.

One of my bitches is that there are too many of these types of trails around.
MTB is evolving.
It seems that the hand made tight techy rocky MTB trail is a thing of he past, and we now have these tractor made wide smooth BMX tracks through the bush.
Each to heir own I guess.

Could do with some jumps though...
there's air at buxton - ride faster :)

adelaide has a few bmxish groomed tracks, craigberms comes to mind.. but I'm with Hugor really - favourite rides include the likes of hills hoist at eagle, sticks n stones (down) at craigburn, quarry loop at lynton, fox steep, klingsporn at buller, travs at the youies. My prejudice probably just comes from the fact that I suck at doubles though..

if fast n open is your thing, go check out 4wd tracks - vic has epic amounts of 'doubletrack'... you can get a mate to drive you up the hills, and there's as much air as anyone can handle off the waterbars/eroded rock ledges/?? who knows what else is out there. Lots of fun was had out Eildon way, for sure..

That might be a bit dramatic. Some peeps like a bit of this, some like a bit of that, don't think its a prob.

Myself, I'm not on a DH rig right now, riding a trek remedy so flowy trials like that of which you speak are right up my all at the mo.

There's a few scattered around. This is oxy:

Think there's more trails you're after in Radelaide, and Outlooks on the Goldy pretty close to what you're wanting also.
Bikesarefun Is that vid slo mo? Super smooth!

For myself I would call this kind of trail perfect:

I'm just frustrated that the closest things to trails like this is in NZ, nothing seems to exist in Australia.

Maybe I'm overly picky and should just get out and ride more:third:

I saw this video earlier when browsing YouTube... looks like the kind of trail I've been looking for around Melbourne.

Nice and flowy, bunch of small jumps... just long, smooth and fun.
Kind of a mindless trail I guess. Just switch off your brain and flow through it nicely.

If any of these exist around Melbourne, please inform me. :p

You just want to ride Bike Park's by the sound of it, every park now has a trail like A-Line.

The flow track at eatons is very similar, just a bit tighter.

I'm going to have a whinge here...
Atherton in FNQ has a shuttle access track just like this.
The whole park is geared aroung the flow ideal.
More of this stuff will be built, perhaps you can get into trail advocacey as a way of getting more of the trails you like?

As Indica pointed out, the Ricochet track (spelling?) in Atherton is nothing short of great fun. Almost 6 minutes of fast flowing, huge berms, couple of jumps etc etc etc without the need to pedal if you didn't want to..... Plus the remainder 8 or 9 tracks are damn good as well.

Do you own a shovel?
Have you ever turned up to a sanctioned trail building day?
Have you ever donated your time to help get trails approved?

If you answered no to any of the above you can't really complain about what types of trails there are to ride.

As I have always said, If I'm donating my time, I'm going to build the type of trail I like to ride :bounce:
