Illinbah ss dh race 30 may 2010 MUD BATH:

I loved the day, although i was looking forward to a dry track the wet track was just as much fun. i probably had the worst race run possible though. I hit my rear brake on something up the top and went into the forest with no rear brake. went over the bars a few times got stuck in a tree and had about 4 riders pass me and now i might possibly need a new code caliper. Not to mention all the crashes in practice. BUT it was soooo much fun and for the club to be able to run both the xc and dh on the same day on a day like that was just amazing. Im looking forward to the next open day there and i can only hope it was as much fun as last weekend.

compensate you for what?what exactly did you lose due to poor conditions? me , well i broke a rib, tore my ac and rotoator cuff apart and snapped my forks, medical bills included im out a total of over$2000.00 and i fucking loved it. just pissed i couldnt do a race run cos tyre choice was starting to pay off.

you, you little oxygen thief lost $60 cos you were too much of a pussy, plain and simple.

Are you the guy who had a rest under the first bridge :)

I think some are being a little hard on the OP im pretty sure it was his first race but I do agrea the race should have gone ahead. 2 of my mates were first times to racing as well and they came away stoked. One came 19th in Sport and the other one got to kick one guys ass in sport(sorry catys but even Scotty has no idea how you beat him:D ) First run Scotty spent more time carrying his bike than riding and was still falling over. Can anyone beat 46min for the longest first run?

Hi, if you went to the dh race or even the x country race you would know how bad the conditions were. Post your comment. Should the event have taken place? Was it safe for the riders? Any broken bones or bad stacks due to the conditions? Both my wheels locked up by the time I entered the forest, I pushed/slid my bike the rest of the way down the mountain. It took ever 30 minutes and $30 at the local car wash to clean my bike. Should riders be compensated as I think the track was not fit to be riden?? Did any one complain to the organizers? Over to you...

all i can say is...CLEAN THE SAND OUT OF YOUR VAGINA! yes the track was wet and i didnt have the best run of all time, but at the end of the day i still had a great weekend and some great expereience to know that one day if your going to be racing with the pros thats the sort of track your going to be up against. i just wanna thank all the people who put in so much effort to organise such a great event each yeah good or bad weather.

You must seriously know that you are stupid, i could offer to give you 50 cents compensation, you could perhaps call someone who might care to listen to you. Seriously...

illinbah

hey robbo,on my race run i got a time of 10min's plus and on the result sheet it said i was in last place, and on my first run my back wheel didnt even turn till i got to the fast section down bottom,i was probly one of the poeple carrying there bikes with him.

Yes th conditions were wet, we don't always get perfect riding conditions but we asre very lucky with the conditions we do get in queensland most of the time. I don't think you realise all the work and effort that the GCMTB club put in to hold an event like this and the kind of funds it takes.

Play chess if your worried about the weather, hope its in an airconditioned room for you.

this guy seriously has dinted the faith i had in the dh community. I can only hope that he is a one in a million ducher and that no one else has the nerve and the disrespect he has for the hard work and commitment of harvey and the rest of the race organisers.

I loved the conditions. it was easily the best two days of riding i have ever had, it was wet, muddy (very muddy) and slippery but at the end of the weekend i wouldnt have it any other way.

In my race run my chain snaped in the forest. i practise for two days spent $120 dollars in registration and bought a new tyre. even though i didnt get the time or place i wanted and was disapointed i would never complain. it was my choice and no one os to blame but me for what i did/thought.

thanks heaps top all the organisers and all the madd fellas who race it was truly a great weekend and no one pay attention to this inconsiderate, self obsorbed F@gg!!!!!!!

dont worry guys and girls theres always one moaner.
i thought the day was a total success, changing conditions every run as the track dryed and its just a mean track anyday of the week!

it was an awesome day. The fun of sliding threw rocks and steep parts of the track and pushing yourself untill you slip and fall. From what i saw alot of people were happy riding and having fun in the mud.

as for myself, i couldnt even move my tires before i entered the forest, i was always at the side of the track picking out handfulls of mud. the only thing i didnt like about the day was my BACK BRAKE DIDNT WORK ON MY RACE RUN!! did the track using my front brake only...hence why i crashed 3 times. but was still an awesome day and ended up comeing 21st in under 19's.

thanx alot to the people who helped run the show.

i dont know what this guy is complaining about
it was my second race (first being beerburam) id been riding since august last year
and i think it was an amazing day great for riders and spectators
and if you didnt like it why do you ride/race
harden up princess and apolagize before its tooooo late.
and $30 for a car wash...bit of a rip if you ask me...i think you deserved it.

thanks harvey and everyone who helped for putting on a great day for all.
Harry

Yeah it was tough (screwed me over way worse than most too), and it was up to us whether we wanted to ride it or not. I reckon it'd be cool if there was an alternate line that around the forest for muddy races though, it's just too damn hard for 95% riders to be fun. Maybe could still run it for elite though? Obviously this would be a lot of work though and not the kind of thing that could happen overnight (and may not really be a priority for the club anyway). Cheers to everyone for the day.

Hello all,
As I am one of the many organises and track builders, for the GCMTB club. I have one thing to say. On saturday one of the young fellas cut his head open with blood all over his face, this same young dude was back on sunday, so to the guy who started this thread... just grow a pair.

Fraser.

P.S. well said welshy.

Muppet

Welcome to Mountain Biking Muppet:cool:

Go to Freecaster.com look up the last WC and watch it.

Are you sure you didn't bump your head on that first run as you are not making much sense.

Maybe you better take up something else and leave the fun to us.

Regards,

Hama;)

Kono: I know you now. You were the one asking for your money back. We were laughing our arse off after you left. We just couldn't believe someone would want their money back after already doing two runs and deciding it was to hard to ride the track.

mate, you seriously need to choose another sport to play. We've had alot worse conditions at Illinbah and the only time a race has been canceled is when the creek is flooded and we can't get onto the property.

A rough estimate of what the weekend cost GCMTB is around $7000 - $8000. Clubs would go broke if we had to refund because of a little rain.

Hey Viv, you are absolutely correct and we do have plans to cut in a completely new track that will be less demanding (but not pussy soft!) for the less experienced riders but it takes time and commitment not just from our Committee but also from you riders helping us dig the trails. Keep your eyes posted as there may be a post coming shortly! In the meantime, ride Illinbah within your ability and if you have to get off and walk then do so - after all Scott Sharples won a World Cup round in Cairns (1996) by carrying his bike through the rock garden when it was too wet to ride!!!!:D

OK Fella's, I think this clown has got the message so don't waste any more of you time paying out on him because he is a drop kick and not worth the time of day. I appreciate all the positive comments about the weekend, yes it was tough and conditions as difficult as anywhere else in the world on the WC tracks but at the end of the weekend, all but one rider had a ball. We did have a few injuries which was to be expected in the conditions but no ambo's or air evac.

As for Kono, mate you give up 4 days work like Roy and I did to get the tracks in order and run the event not to mention all the other hard working members of our club that put their heart and soul working for the past month to get it right. You are a selfish, self centred, disrespectful person that needs to take up another past-time (knitting sounds your go!) so that you do not continue to bring mountain biking into disrepute.

I just hope for your sake that you were not one of the two young blokes that came back to Rego demanding your money back and then refusing to hand back you number plate before abusing and swearing at Kylie (who had her young baby with her) and has worked tirelessly to bring this event to you. If you are then you can expect to hear more about this incident because whether you are aware or not, by virtue of you purchasing a Day Permit or holding an MTBA licence or even attending an event run under the auspices of MTBA - you ARE bound by the MTBA Code of Conduct. I will be investigating this further and if you are identified as one of the guilty culprits I will take all measures available to bring you to justice!! In the meantime, do us a favour and do not return to any events we conduct at Illinbah - you are not welcome!!

I was that dirty troll under the bridge. I only came out with a corked leg, a busted finger and a wet ass from the water. struth it was cold.

Then blew a heater hose on the the way home. but other than that it was a good day.

+1 can we quit the negativity and name calling...

Look - the bottom line is - this is a Grassroots racing series - one of the many reasons the series exists is to nurture young skilled riders into the National, Oceanic & World Cup scene. They need challenges. Anyone that has ridden overseas - especially DH - will know that our tracks barely represent the level of difficulty seen there. It is a well known fact, echoed by men like Rennie and Kovarik, that Illinbah is one of the few venues in Oz that has international potential...

I want to rave on here - but most things except for the above have already been said... Everyone is entitled to their opinion, unfortunately that includes 'kono'...

In all honesty, as I was driving to illinbah saturday morning i couldn't help but think "its definitely gonna be cancelled". Was pretty stoked when they said we were still gonna ride, then it rained heavier, and heavier, and even when we were at the top of the track it was raining rather heavy. I thought it was complete madness that the race was going ahead. Had a few runs and thought i should go as i was doing more walking than riding.

Came back sunday, first run was much like saturday, was a bit better but still death up the top and in the forest. Last practise run thought and I was having an absolute ball. Track was slippery but you could maintain control (apart from the forest) and the whole thing was getting much quicker. Had a mad race run, and walked away from one of the best weekends of my life with a massive smile, and some seriously muddy race kit.

Was awesome, kudos to the race organisers for not calling it off, the end result was purely awesome.
