Injuries. What's your story?

Have broken 5 ribs a few years ago but this was worse
2 things are bad , coughing/sneezing and you have to be on your back to sleep until they start to heal.
I/V fentanyl and ketamine is an interesting and effective combo.
The nurses offered. me panadol as well ha ha !

Not getting my foot out quickly enough.
Not again, riding the hardest track in Yack which is technical but not that hard and have ridden it before 50 x without incident. Tootling along not concentrating hit a tree in a narrow gap fall off onto chest as I am going down I get the feeling this is really gonna hurt.
It wa s even further down into a mining cut .super winded then had to get out ,push my bike to the trail head forgot my phone dickhead.
By that stage I am hyperventilating so ask someone to call the ambulance'
6 broken ribs some in 2 places haemothorax.6 days in hospital. had Fentanyl and Ketamine .
OK now , taking it gently.
Bad news travels fast everyone asks about it.
My sister asks are you giving up mtbiking now.? Nah its too much fun
Ah man, I feel your pain and it sounds like you certainly did a number on yourself! Good luck with the recovery.

One rib is hard enough but six! Faaark!

I hope you heal up quickly.

Wrote about this in another thread but broke my foot in early December when I crushed it between a log and my pedal. Had what they call a Lisfranc fracture and had to get surgery to screw in a plate to help the break heal without compromising the arch in my foot.

Spent 8 weeks not putting any weight through my foot then another 6 weeks in a moon boot then a fair bit of rehab and recovery and yesterday I finally had the plate removed.

I asked if I could keep the plate when they took it out and even though they said they weren’t allowed to, they very kindly cleaned it up and had it sitting beside my bed for me when I woke up.

I’m thinking of making it into a head badge 😂

Ok, so is the new company name...

Lisfranc Cycles? or Archplate Bikes?

oh good question... I'm thinking maybe Lisfrac Cycles with this particular model being the 'Fracture'. Therefore, this is the Lisfrac Fracture 160A (I thought it needed a few number and letters to make it more legit).
An excellent idea, as long as it's a limited edition 1 of 1. I think I would feel a bit sketchy riding a "Crushed Foot Fracture Fracture" even if it was a review bike that was sent to me by the company. 😬🤣

Met 4 other guys on the trails on Monday and ended up riding and chatting for a bit with them. Somehow ended up on injuries and started swapping stories of broken bones and surgeries and who managed to keep their metal hardware after surgery to remove it (still sad they wouldnt let me keep my clavicle plate :( ). One of the guys was on a borrowed bike on his first MTB ride with his mates showing him the ropes - he may have been reassessing this whole mountain biking caper after all our tall tales :)

Yeah the nonchalance of MTBers about injuries is 'interesting'. I get it, can't live without risk - but everyone assesses it differently. I'm certainly on the cautious end of things, but if stuff happens it happens.

My boss hates it, but understands my bike and I are a package deal. It doesn't help that when he thinks of mountain biking images of Redbull Rampage flash into his head
