Thanks guys.

I'd hope it looks new! The only NON-new bits are the frame, shock, seatpost and saddle. Everything else is brand spanking.

Decal set was US$9.95 including postage. There is another thread here somewhere where I gave details about getting them.

AJ.

Shockworks BigOne RAM's - 7" travel

There was an issue with the unique seals they had (i.e. not available) so I had my bro machine new seal cups. The cups were press-fit into the old seal seats. Now they take standard 40mmIDx8mm seals ($5 each) and take about 30 seconds to change.

The new seals have removed most of the stiction, but they are a heavily sprung fork IMO, and do take a bit to get going. Not even close in performance to the new forks though!

Anyway.... I was going to run with them, but just could not stick to that plan once all the other nice goodies were collected. Hence going the 888's.

omg thats so pimp i had an 04 worldcup and was thinking of getting it painted white with the black 888, wastn sure what it would look like, but thats mad wish id kept mine now.

have fun with it, its a beast

Did you pick the frame up from W.A. if so I have seen other before photos of the frame and you have done it justice. Dude that looks sweet ;)

that is AWESOME

how much did the painting cost?
the seat tube of the frame looks very high in relation to the handlebars/headtube.... is that normal for an sgs, or has the new componentry done that?

again, AWESOME

You really should put the original Thomson bolts back in the seatpost. They're high-quality steel anyway (not sure specifically what grade), and the underside of the heads are machined hemispherically to allow them to sit in the recesses properly, and maintain a large contact area. Thomson's user manual explicitly states that you should not use anything but the stock bolts in there for that reason.

bolzy:
Gloss white. But being powdercoat it's not super glossy.

jamit:
Yep. Came from WA.

Sam the Man:
Blasting and powdercoating was $175.

As for the seat height, I have about another 40mm I can drop it, but other than that it's just the frame geometry. I'm 6'2", its a large frame, and I had no issues with it over the weekend at Buller.

S.:
Thanks for the info, but all covered my friend. New bolts were machined to suit!
