Is it Fox or bike shop being so slow.

My dearly beloved bike has been in the lbs for a whole month now. The last time I personally heard from the shop was over 3 weeks ago telling me my shock needs a service and they will send it up to Brisbane for that, should be ready by next mid week. Not heard from them since.
I have gone into the shop twice to find out what is happening and they tell me it was sent to Fox to work on it.
I Thought I would here from them since I went to see them last Saturday asking how my bike was doing but another week and nothing.
So would Fox really take 3 weeks to service an rp23 shock? Is the lbs dicking me around and do I need to take a hammer when I have to see them again? Or is this to be expected? This is the first time I have used this shop for a service. They are new and local to the area.

Didn't we have this exact same question a week ago? If your a different poster then that's at least two long waits for fox servicing. It doesn't help but I had a recent issue with my rear shock and just paid NSDynamics to do a full service they did it same day for me too. I did book in 2 weeks earlier to make sure they could achieve same day service :)

Very interesting situation, as if they're sending your shock to Brisbane, then it's more than likely going to NS Dyanmics, not Fox (Monza) directly who are in Melbourne. If it's out of warranty, that's actually a pretty likely case as NSD do fricken brilliant work! I've had plenty of suspension products serviced by them and their work is second to none.

I'd say it's a case of layering... The shop may have had your bike for a week or so before sending the shock off. The the servicing shop may have had your shock for a week or so before being able to get to it.

I'd say give them a call, or visit, and calmly ask for the manager to see what is happening. To be perfectly honest there won't be any gain by going ballistic at them or getting uppity, as that will most likely make them less inclined to do their utmost for you.

Good luck!

Nsd did 4 day turnaround including post in both directions on mine recently

edit. Wasn't booked in, just sent straight in from my lbs.

yeah im either being paranoid or having some bad deja vu

I asked if it was sent to ns dynamics and told was sent to fox. Fox uk maybe. Maybe fox have a backlog of work and don't realize how fucking important that shock is to me.
Haha I am dreading the bill. A simple call from lbs wouldn't have gone astray though. Cheers for input lads.

Ahhh no worries moorey I have my hardtail to ride. Cheers man. The shop mechanic said he could put a loaner on for me and I said yeah that would be great give me a call when ready. That was 2 weeks ago. Hardtails rock so little maintenance.

I received a very helpful message from a rep of Fox earlier today asking for some info from the bike shop he would chase up. I rang the shop to be told the bike is ready to pick up. I have it and its awesome. Really happy with the work done to it from the shop and the shock service from Fox makes it feel like a new one. No idea it was running so rough.
Will put this down to the delay just being a one off. Think the bike shop could maybe communicate a lot better than they did. Thank you FOX for your response. Now to get for a ride. Cheers.

Generally speaking the turnaround time for a shock is three weeks, including time in transit. However it depends on what sort of backlog Sola have in their workshop; sometimes it can be faster, other times it can be a bit longer. There can also be cases where the shop owes them money so they won't release anything until the bill is paid.

Or you could get same day service from NS dynamics, add a couple of days for postage if necessary. 3 weeks what the fuck???
