I have been doing a regular 20km loop on mondays from Canning reserve to the top of Brimbank park and back and came across a good laugh on my return this week.
Tray back Hilux had been out mud boggin' and I found it bogged up to it's headlight shells right under the ring road overpass. Owner standing on the tray screaming into his mobile for someone to come pull him out. His mate was sitting on a pile of dirt laughing his guts out.
I only ride the western side now from Soloman's ford north. Plenty of mud too right now.

Single Track at brimbank park

Here is the single track I know about in Brimbank. Hopefully there is a map attached. It Has been a few months since I have ridden there. B is a dirt track that goes thru the trees . When the walking track turns right and heads uphill, track A is to your left and follows the riverbank. It is a nice little piece of single track. Shame it is only a few 100 meters long. It works well in both directions. Don’t fall in the river. Track A finishes at one of the river crossings. Head up the dirt road 100 m , the road u-turns and a walking track goes straight ahead. Follow the walking track and just after you cross a bridge, a track heads off to the left. This track is tight, slow, and has one off-camber corner that will send you down an embankment into the blackberries. It is sometimes a little overgrown so take some secateurs with you. This track takes you to an alcove where some jumps have been made. It is an interesting little area with little tracks going everywhere, up down, tight corners and opportunities to drop down steep embankments. A dirt road goes to the right which takes you back to the other roads and walking tracks. To the left is a steep climb to a dirt road (D on the map). The area around D is where a dirt road zig-zags up the hill. Cutting straight down the hill are some steep rocky tracks good fun but too short. I have only ridden the ones marked, but I think there is another one that probably comes from the top road (?rowan drv). My preference is to go down the D tracks to the jumps alcove then along C.
The area around E are well defined tracks where they leave the road. They drop down quite straight, but as they go up there is some quite technical rocky mountain biking to be had. Unfortunatly they peter out. It is possible to ride across the open country to stenson Rd which winds down to the river crossing. It is a rocky stepping stone style crossing, but if you like a little trials style riding it is probably possible to get across. Over the river joins up with the walking/riding tracks of the park.

There are many other walking/riding tracks in brimbank that connect this single-track and enable better circuits. The seeds that cause punctures are unbelievably evil. I once had 6 punctures in the one tube from 100m of single track. The good news is they are only around for a particular time of the year. The bad news is I am not particularly sure when this is. Spring / summer time but I cannot be more precise than that.

If anyone knows of other tracks, feel free to add them to the map

I will try again for the map

Thanks for the input and effort. I never knew about the tracks near A.

The last time I rode the E track it went all the way to Stenson Rd and came out just near the picnic table (See attachment).

There is also a pretty cool descent from the gate at McShane drive/Rowan drive intersection down to near your letter D.

From that picninc table, if you head towards the river but keep following it towards the city (downstream, river on right). You will get to the south end of the park.
There is a wire rope fence? and you can see a rough track past the end of the fence, go over that and then keep close to the river you will pick up a sort of ST which will take you into the old quarries.
In the quarries lots of choices, not great for ST but still fun trying to pick lines that don't end in bog holes or four wheel driver ruts. Just keep an ear out for motos and 4wds.

Sorry not the best at copying google etc, but will ive it a go.

Hi guys

Just stumbled across your thread good stuff, I live in avondale and have been riding the brimmy and quarry tracks for the past 10 years, it seems your thread has covered most of the ST, there used to be more ST on the brimbank side of the river before they lanscaped many areas over the past year. In summer you are pretty much guaranteed at least one puncture per ride if you are running tubes and XC rubber, I now ride tubeless(with stans) there with few probs. The mind boggles at the potential for new tracks out there..... PM me if anyone is interested in ride/tour , i'm a B grade rider.:)
