I had done it every year from 2009 to 2021 in some capacity, after the year break, everyone went off the boil.

Melrose it is then @Cardy George, 23-24 August for the Mountain Bike Marathon National Championships then stick around for another 5 days of rides and laughs till the 29th Aug when you get to do 18hrs of Melrose.

Mrs George has already stated the intent to be there for the week!

It's not helping my point of view on it that the one attempt I made didn't go well and now I can't redress. The only other 24s are literally twice the distance away, and a bad time of the work year.

The marathon will be mega ! We don't know the course yet but there has been a few ideas kicked around, think along the lines of double epic lap distance 😍 6 hours for the fast ones, 80km with 3000vm.
 
We use lpg for heating and cooking in the house. From day 1 we used a local rural supplies to provide the bottles. They weren't cheaper but buy local etc and it was close enough. Added bonus was I could cruise down and grab a bottle if we needed one urgently. Rural trader sold to a bigger rural group and after a year they have decided to stop supplying gas. OK. Plenty of options including the previous gas company. Everyone was doing a deal to take over the gas supply contract and they were all much of a muchness. I went with one that answered the phone call in 5 minutes after waiting for two of the others for about 18 months and the others were much more expensiver. Gas supplier was changed back in August and as we didn't have a recent gas certificate a gas fitter came out to test the installation. All good. We had one nearly new bottle. Guy says I will credit this as a full bottle and that will come through on your account after the first two bottles are paid. Great so we get the intro offer and one bottle credit. Yes. Fast forward and I need to order another bottle in Nov, check the app and no credit. Hmmm. Order the bottle anyway and the price is about what we were paying previously. I send an enquiry through the app about the credit and hear nothing for a week. Get a call from down south but no one answers. Bit later another call but I was in my one meeting a week but this time a message to call direct to the supplier. Did that a couple of days later and explain the situation. All good will get back to you. Get a call next day. We are pleased to offer you a discount on the next year of supply... Yes but what about the credit I was told would be on the account? Oh. Explain again and they go to their supervisor. Come back with you need to take that up with the previous supplier and they will give you a credit. What? I dealt with a 3rd party who had the master contract with the supplier, no idea what customer number or any details were as it was just pay for a bottle and it appeared. Back and forth a little and the old I want to talk to the supervisor bit. Supervisor then tells me that the service people cannot make commercial decisions and that I needed to confirm with the sales team first. Bullshit. Wearing your ppe, driving your truck, issuing invoices with your name and logo? I could have kept the bottle and used it and taken the old one back at my leisure. Anyway upshot is they cannot give me credit for another company gas. OK guess I will cancel the contract and go elsewhere. Wait! For your trouble we can give you a credit of $100 and drop the price of gas for the next year by another $50 a bottle. So instead of getting $107 credit which was the intro price of gas I am getting about $300 for the year. Yes that works.
 
LTIH - Facebook / Social Media ban for people under 16 - No accounts are grandfathered in so that means anyone that wants to have an account with in the next year will have to provide some form of ID to prove your old enough to have the account - Love or Hate Facebook etc I only have my account as that's the way a lot of organisations and groups choose to communicate.
Its a super complicated issue its trying to address and people effected by "Cyber Bullying" always had the option to switch off and the ban will do very little to address the mental health issues at the root cause.

I liken this to the constant speed reductions to address in particular motorcycle incidents on popular roads - A section on Mt Glorious was 100 then changed to 80 now 70 and guess what the week the speed was dropped to 70 another 3 bikes crashed - Its not because the speed limit is lower its because the people ignoring the limit are still the same people at 100 then 80 and now 70

I traverse that section pretty often. In anything competent it is easy to sit on 80 everywhere. Problem is bikesdo whatever through the corners, usually less than 80 in the tighter ones and then wind it open until the next corner. I have lost count of the number of times I have encountered a bull or cow in the middle of a blind corner. Or a tractor. The leaf litter on the next two sections is something else. After rain more so. They can make the limit 20 and the accidents will continue because people.

Yes people can bow out but it doesn't stop others from diseminating harmful things about them.
 
the social media ban is just testing to see if an online digital id is workable.

if they can somehow manage it you'll need a digital id as a generality

I'm struggling to give a shit about the ban.

It takes all of 30 seconds to punch in your license details on CTP insurance quotes. And if it gets kids off their phones a bit more, I see that as a positive. Otherwise I still expect kids to be shit heads, much as they ever were.

The speed limit thing, now that shits me. There hardly seems to be any reason or thought put into it. Why does the speed limit need to change between 60 to 70 four times between the harbour bridge and western distributor?

That sounds like Supagas to me. Similar issues with them and Elgas, the increasing cost of the LPG and living rural meant we have got off the gas entirely...
 
Decided this year to hold out on using the aircon as once you start it seems they never go off - other night was finally deemed hot enough and humid enough that to allow proper sleep the aircon would be employed - NOPE!!! Denied the aircon is broken and does not produce cold air which is kinda its job.
So since to hot and sweaty to sleep google up some aircons - run off to Harvey Norman and buy it - now cause like everyone else that only wants aircon because it’s hot have to wait a month for an installer.

Did ok on the price but RRP is $2300 they are at HN and Good Guys for $1399 but noticed Betta had them for $1188 so made HN price match and you get a $150 Mastercard from Fujitsu
