Little Things You Hate

"Crickey mate! This sounds terrible. I will add it to my list of urgent ranger jobs to attend to in due course. Currently my team are all caught up chasing a large stray dangerous dog. But we'll get to this wading pool in due course. Until then, whatever you do...stay away from them and dont do anything to antagonise the situation. We'll take care of it."

Then be real busy with that dangerous stray dog for hours.

Or rock up and get in the pool with the family. Either seem to be appropriate.

I tell you, the current fad people in Australia have of NOT celebrating Australia Day is horrendous. The amount of dickheads that choose to back this invasion day shit for no reason other than to feel all warm & cuddly for belonging to a cause they know nothing of so they can get likes on Fakebook is astonishing. Put your energy into loving where you live and celebrating this beautiful fantastic place before your stupidly educated children and their children destroy it.
I don't know why we can't just shift it to a day that makes everyone happy, seems a pretty small thing to do for a big impact. We still get to celebrate the place we love, just on a day that the black fellas also feel alright about.

I think it's only been a public holiday for like 25 years or something, right?

Pretty sure it was Paul Keating that solidified it. There was chatter then about using a different date. Some of which was that if it was at a different time kids would pay more attention as it wasnt in school holidays etc.

The pool story has made onto 7 news. Council has apologised. Meanwhile 100s of Fatboy ebikes are causing kaos in Cronulla mall while Sutherland council Rangers look on drinking coffee and doing NOTHING.
See the big group of e-bikes that stormed the golf course at the Northern Beaches the other week. Was pretty good.

Oky Doky. Here's my Thought on the matter. Make Australia Day the Monday after New Year's Day. That way, people get a soft launch to the year, with 2 public holidays within a week or so. No major event clashes, as far as I can see, most people will be able to take advantage of it.
Logistics-wise, the monday after NYD would generally work better, as Australia Day has a bunch of events attached to it, and essential service workers have had a few days to recover from NYE stuff.

OR

Make Oz day the Friday of King's Birthday Weekend, so you have Oz day on the Friday, and king chuck III day on the monday. 4 day weekend.
Fkn WIN! :D
AFAIK, no one gives a shit about KB apart from them getting a public holiday out of it. bring QLD and WA into line and make KB a national holiday.

The Australia Day debate is a prime example of society's relentless pursuit to please everyone, but upset people at the same time. Arguably every public holiday has the same problem.

Really? Australia Day is clearly the most controversial. National public holidays are as follows:

New Years Day: Not aware of any controversy
Australia Day: Topic of conversation, enough said
Good Friday/ Easter Monday: Based on the Christian Faith but hardly see marching in the street over it, and for most people it's a four day weekend that backs onto school holidays so it's a win with leave and hanging out with the kids
Anzac Day: Generally supported as long as the nationalism factor isn't too smelly
Christmas Day: As with Easter

Make it the last Monday in Jan (so what we had this year). Lets people burn the month with annual leave if they want while the sun is out (a bit too much) and the kids are off school, and lets the schools 'soft start' with a short week.

EDIT - or do the sensible thing, become a republic and then we can just use that date...

went out to the parrmatta park event on monday night and was thinking this would have been better on the friday when you dont have to go back to work in the morning. lot of places had evening bands and fireworks

which is fine, but every few years that holiday will fall on the 26th.
We probably won't become a republic any time soon because people CBF voting for it in a referendum.
