I am not a particularly surly person, but if there is one thing I hate...among all the others...its pub trivia. I fucking hate it. I think most of that comes down to the "host" usually having no mic sense and a nasal voice along with the volume of their mic being excessively intrusive. Throw into the mix that most questions are about sport or television and im done.
Anyway I have tomorrow off, and then the rest of the week is cunt week. My whole roster was changed today into a mix of 10 and 12 hour days, 10 hour turnarounds from night work to day work and so on. I figure ill celebrate the extra revenue coming my way with a bit of a dinner out. After looking at almost every restaurant and pub in town that is actually open I decide that none have a menu that interests me...and for fucks sake how many pubs within 1km of each other need to have Monday as their pizza night? I roll the dice and decide the pub closest to the grocery store I am going to will do, after all they do the best sunday roast in town and want desperately to be recognised as a steak pub...
...the steak menu is less interesting than my negative is implying, the pub classics consist of 4 different schnitzels and 2 fish dishes, and fuck it ill take the 400g rib eye special and a glass of malbec for close to the bottle price served in an ill fitting white wine glass please because why would we do it any other way? And within seconds of my payment being approved I notice some pieces of white paper on some tables...and then a booming voice announces that it is time for round 2 of the triviaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Fuck. Me.
Ill also toss in there is a lot of track pants, things, and the table I am aitting at has a reserved sign from 5pm that still hasnt been cleared. I have learnt my lesson...i will just cook the steak myself next time.
