Little Things You Hate

Having to rebuild a pump from the 60’s, that you can’t find drawings for, and that was pulled apart by somebody else who didn’t mark it or take photo’s.

It’s gonna be a long day of second guessing myself.

Puzzles are good for the brain, and reduce the risk of dementia in later life :)

and stop you falling for phishing scams. Although anyone who'd fall for that one would probably not have started from a strong position in the first place.

Working on the bike on the weekend i found that the cage on one of my pedals was split. I have at least 5 sets in the garage with bent axles or ruined bearings and do you think i can i find one of them to pinch the cage? My garage looks like a hard rubbish collection at the moment.

I don’t know what temperature it runs at and can’t check how much clearance the old bearings had so I’m gonna be worrying about it failing prematurely for awhile. It should be fine, I hope. One edumacated guess later and some crossed fingers, she’ll be right, right?

Also, massive LTIH, brazing old, cracked cast iron. Soooooo much time spent preheating it trying to sweat the moisture out of it.

LTIH (plural)
  1. Clearly something wrong/damaged in my right foot after You Yangs crash, over a month ago. Constant aching.
  2. X-Ray shows up nothing (coulda sworn it was gonna be a "hair liner"...)
  3. Cannot get anywhere near a specialist (and therefore a scan) because stupid fucking medical system is so stretched they're all booked out for months.
  4. Still paying my taxes + MLS + Private Hos. Insurance every payslip (don't get me started!....again  )

Join the trend, cancel your PHI. The system is stretched because of the millions going off into the profits of insurance companies and not into the health system.

I’m still annoyed with myself for getting blackmailed into having it at all for a few years :(

Stacked the bike on Saturday. Thanks to my 100kg landing mostly on the end of the bars and the front wheel I comprehensively stuffed it. Went to LBS got a new wheel fitted up, and sorted the rest of the bike myself. Steerer is bent slightly but left-right not the expected forward-back. Anyway it’s rideable for now.

However the OCD of seeing different wheels on the bike is doing my head in. Guess I’m buying a matching rear wheel...
