God that makes my blood boil. Taking jobkeeper and awarding executive bonuses is something that should not happen. If ever there was a time for management to sacrifice to help look after their organisations and their people, it is now. When COVID-19 hit, at our company we set a goal of everybody keeping their jobs and accepted that we may make no profit because of it. While that's partly out of self-interest (engineers with the skills we need are really specialist and hard to find), in the main we wanted to look after our people when times were tough. The fact these guys want volunteer labour instead of paying overtime is just infuriating.

Time to be super unpopular here - if my salary package includes certain bonus’s etc for performance targets and they are met I want my money - whilst I understand the amounts of money seem like a lot to us plebs people have built up lifestyles and debts according to their income

Morally - now that’s a whole other discussion that I don’t want a part of :)

then we need to look at the KPI's and make sure they align with delivering real improvements. so many kpis are very badly designed and work slows down to cheat them

Daily update - no parcel - no response from shop - no response from Aus Post escalation

Sending daily email to shop requesting updates now - latest email includes -

I don’t want to just order another adapter from you purely because the current approach to freight is it may or may not get there but if you pay for express it may or may not get to there sooner

gunna order from Wolf tooth OS and see if it beats the current order here
Why are you hassling the shop? Seems all parcels are a shit show at the moment.

Because the shop happily charges for express freight - and not just the amount that Aus Post charge them - yes I understand packaging and handling but they also have on their website that all orders placed before a certain time are shipped same day so I am not paying for express packaging

If they were running the company well and hitting their targets, that's their money and they earned it. In this case, they are achieving their targets by relying on unpaid labour despite receiving substantial direct funding from the government, in one of the few industries that is thriving in these times. That is not running the company well, it is gamesmanship.

I'm going to just jump in on the hate here, because my parcel from MTBD apparently made it to ACT on Friday morning but still hasn't been delivered.

But I can still ride my bikes so its not the end of the world.

Maybe you have got my package it made it to Tas this morning - pith I’m 5000kms the other direction.

Yeah its so random - out of the 4 orders I've done from them during COVID times, 2 have been within 3 days and 2 get lost somewhere for a week or more and then show up. Think one of those lost ones was express post too.

Haha, it hasn't bounced around, just got to ACT and now sitting on "delayed". I dunno how a package for QLD goes to Tas first haha

In any case, is much better than when I was in S. Africa. There were riots at one point and postal vans were being set on fire. Then if something did get through from OS you had to pay tax to the post office when picking it up, even if it wasn't something you'd actually bought...

I got a note from Auspost saying that express stuff might take longer but they would still prioritise it. And some express stuff is still being sent as it should. My missus and myself have both received express packages within a couple of days.
So to me the shop hasn’t done anything wrong by still offering the express option so don’t deserve to be hassled on a daily basis for something that is now your responsibility to follow up unless it is obviously way over due and lost. But that’s a different story.
The way I see it you’re giving the wrong people a hard time.

I've been getting stuff express posted from Qld and its arriving in Canberra overnight. Only small boxes of specialized fasteners but I'm staggered that they are getting it here so quickly. Of course, if I were to rely on getting it overnight it would take several weeks...

I had a 1200 x 1000 x 650mm crate nailed to a pallet leave work 3pm yesterday arrive in Brisbane 9.20am this morning...Not express posted, Startrack, so same same. Cost $140 as opposed to $760 overnight, took the gamble and won on that one. I was surprised but in saying that I suppose it's harder to lose something of that size.
