Little Things You Love

Douglas Adams

“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.”

― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

I found a map of the solar system that's done to a scale where the moon is one pixel.

In the beginning the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

Everyone should read hitch hikers guide at least a few times.

...the way my "auntie" steps things up a notch once all my clients are gone. In total I've spent 3 weeks here this season and I haven't eaten the same meal for dinner twice. Once everyone has left she starts trying new recipes out and serving me some of her old favourites. This last couple of nights have been especially delicious!

A local hotel + bar owner last night invited me to come for an onsen (that's where the foot pic came from). But he had a rush of customers into his bar as we were heading downstairs. Still a generous offer that resulted in me having one of the best onsens this season. Not surprising as he is also the president of the local onsen association. Onsen was followed by a touch too much whisky with him.

Friends who own a crepe store here gave me a small pile of gifts last night. This included a beautiful sake cup made by a famous ceramicist I can't remember the name of.

Lucky I came prepared with customised gifts for them all.

LTIH - leaving tomorrow and slowly making my way home. Will squeeze a few hours on the slush in before I bail, then onward for some Tokyo adventures.

I am currently in my favourite brazilian churasco (Barbacoa Aoyama if you are in the area). I haven't consumed much beef while I have been in japan so my appetite is a bit on the large side. The maitre d sat me looking into the kitchen, so I have been well cared for by the chefs.

I powered along at a pace even I was impressed by only to hit the wall like Casey Jones! Waitress has just asked if I want any specific meats as it is time for the last order? I say no thank you, I am full. I see her advise the kitchen, i see the chefs looking at me and discussing the matter, the one I think is the head chef (older fellow from Brazil that seemed to be piloting the kitchen) comes out shocked...surely there was a miscommunication sir? We have called for the last order, is there any more beef I can prepare for you? Are you sure? We still have the wagyu cuts you have been enjoying...no thank you, you have gone beyond my satisfaction. Go-chi-sousama. Then he gave me a pat on the back and said I did well.

Try as I might there is just no space for additional meats. Thank the maker for the bidet!

@fjohn860 sells/sends me a wheel for peanuts, packages it better than any wheel I have ever bought and ships it off late Friday afternoon, express. Arrives Monday morning.

DT EX511 rim, DT 350 hub and DT Aerocomp spokes  The perfect wheel I was imagining to replace the broken one doesn't get any better than this.

The whole wheel is like brand new, straight as a die and the tension is basically perfect on every spoke.

Legendary burner ! Way too cheap brother, I owe you a big one.

No worries mate! Glad it is going to get some use.

It was half of a mullet wheelset I have with the front being a XM481 on a 350 hub.
