Ludicrously expensive bike stuff

I just did a bit of reading and apparently metho evaporates a bit quicker, it's pretty close in just about every way but because of the methanol in metho it's a bit more toxic.

I had read that due to the additives in metho it can leave a behind a residue after flashing off/being wiped off.

I have had less brake rotor "grumbles" since switching to isopropyl alcohol.
I use industrial metho which doesn't have the bittering agent, that might be the difference.

What advantage do you get from using isopropyl over old fashioned metho? I get why it's used in hand sanitisers and the like but for cleaning I never saw the point.
Iso is a little more polar, and usually doesn't have denaturing agents like "etho" which can leave streaks. Ethanol more hygroscopic too (i think?), which adds to streaky crap, as leaves water streaks to dry.

Not much different on bike, but big difference on optical lenses and such
(Not even bunnings metho has methanol any more)

I'm not sure which is more hygroscopic but both being infinitely miscible I'd guess they'd be pretty similar.
The metho I get in a 20 litre drum is 95% eth 5%meth and doesn't leave streaks. I'd know if it did because I use it on my eye glasses and for window cleaning.

even absolute ethanol leaves streaks if it has been open a little while.... (but this is streaking on optical/electron microscope level.. absolute clean vs not.. ).

for normal stuff, metho (old or new) is fine, but terrible for optics or highly polished fancy surfaces :)

I new Diggers was shit but I'm surprised at the water content. A quick google tells me most are like that though.
Maybe I should give isopropyl OH a go, my brakes do squeak a bit.

I rotate 3 chains, swapping every 300km or so + Squirt lube before every ride.
All GX on my Optic, 3,300km so far
Wow, that's pretty good!
According to the Spech website my Stumpy should have a GX chain, and at 1,300km it's at the limit of wear.
Usually wipe down and lube after every ride. Mainly with Muckoff dry lube.

Same here, 3x chains rotate every 600Kms, and running a steel chainring. I am getting around 4 rotations (7,200Kms) before I replace the whole lot including cassette and chainring). I used to use Squirt but found it was a pain to clean the sludge off. Now onto Silca top secret drip wax and it cleans off with warm water like butter and lasts almost as long.

They must havin' a laff
$1300 roadie handle bars

Man it's just a matter of one sacrificial rider spending 4 hours to trawl aliexpress to find the exact product with some questionable logo and branding on it lol.
not even (MOQ for custom stuff is.. 1.. hmm)
