Middle aged, calm and happy with dropper post issues

Any pain or weirdness under the local? I am wanting to get it done.

I had 0.0002s of the worst fuking pain ever. Seriously hurt and seriously short.
Hurts well less than having a bonus kid I'd imagine.

And to Liberty - the sample - haha, how odd I felt to drop that off.

Just do it mate, exactly like Liberty said just a bit weird lying there with your bits out. Best advice I had was double snug undies for a few days afterwards stops things moving. Just make sure you don't get a guy who stitches the tubes to sack afterwards, a mate had that done and he was in pain for a LOT longer. I can recommend the Dr who did mine here in Hornsby.

I'm certainly middle aged at 42, and when the kids are good a very calm and happy chap. I have 3 wonderful boys, 8, 6 and 15 months, yes I should have got the snip earlier but as the first two were IVF we got complacent. Both the older boys can now ride simple trails at OMV and got very motivated by Danny McCaskil the other week. I try to get out to ride OMV whenever I can, I'm lucky in that I can ride there from home do 4 laps and be back in less than 2 hours. The wife is great but we are both held back by the typical large Sydney mortgage, but the house does back directly on to Berowra Nat. Park with great views into Galston Gorge and I can just see the Blue Mountains from my desk! The view makes the cost worthwhile.
Can't complain about the job as I get paid well, work from home 4 weeks out of 5 and no mention of KPI's. Its just a bit boring but my previous job designing structures for yachts has spoiled me a bit.

As to dropper posts when I have some spare cash I might consider it, however I last bought a full bike in 2004, which has had the frame replaced under warranty twice in that time at least I got upgraded to carbon the last time as that's all they had left in 26"

I did mine under a local. No major pain, just a couple of times of severe pinching inside, but not too bad. I found recovery and the next three days or so completely pain free. 6 years down the track I have had no issues whatsoever and unable to find the scar at all. And no unexpected kids.

Haha - Liberty, the sample. I collected mine in the dingy toilet in the basement. I felt so dirty that day.....

I've got a dropper post on my normal ride plus one on the trainer which used to be on my hardtail. You might ask why a trainer needs a dropper. Because at its highest position it's right for me and at the lowest is right for the missus! No fussing with collars etc. First World cycling.

I don't get it, ya'll buy dropper posts for $250+ then pay more for Dr Snip?

Just stick to a normal post and both problems solved.

I must confess the one on the trainer was a warranty returned job which still wiggles around a bit... but plenty good for a trainer!

As for the snip... I wouldn't risk it. I only had to look at my missus sideways a few times and wham... three kids later!

feeling pretty first world today - lone wolfing at stromlo this morning, enjoying the fuck out of a great ride on a great bike on a great day. wooha! all good. Been a while since I've felt the fun factor so much... too much strava, stress, time pressure.

I'm confused as to why the nurse didn't help collect the sample. She did with mine granted Her hands were a bit rough and she was out of uniform but it was convenient to run into her in the public toilets across from the clinic. Her gravelly voice was a bit off putting at first though.

And you thought prostate milking was an urban myth....

I keep telling Nan to stop doing that. 3 packs of Camels a day will do that to you though. I do love the old battle-ax...

I like this forum and the peoples here, even the douche bags, they make it fun!. Much better than the other social networks where all my friends post utter rubbish in under 10 words and likes are like a scourge of high fives all round for a boring life event like buying a different brand roll of toilet paper and needing to tell everyone how soft it feels on your arse.

I'm a few months away from 40 and returned to MTB only late last year after years away from pedal power since I was 17. After turning 17 I got a car, got motorbikes, girls, party time, forgot about bicycles, early underground Sydney raves back in late 80's early 90's before acid electronic music became mainstream. Still love the darker minimal acid techno. Most of my mates had real TB 303's back in the day ;)

Got 3 kids, one 17 year old living in Newcastle with her mum, the other two living with me and the current (and last) misses, boy 5, girl almost 2, balance bike time for her!!

I took up MTB because I am surrounded by trails, live too far away from the ocean to make my other passion, fishing, a practical 2-3 hour event and I used to smoke and want to get fit since quitting.
If anyone knows Bees Nest Hill out back of Winmalee I can ride up that bastard without stopping, in granny gear but that is still an effort, for me anyway!

Buying first house in 3 weeks so I'm hoping to still have money to upgrade bike and contribute to the fuckwits thread, I know I will!

I might need to buy new forks, maybe some reversable Pikes would be best for me......

Also thinking of getting the snip, IUD's are noticeable.

Edit: Oh yeah forgot to mention I have another account here started around a year ago, forgot password created another, fuckwit! Mods, you can ban that account :)

Cheers
Stirling

Redraw facility man! Just don't let the other half know it is there and you'll be able to fool her that it is just the crippling interest causing you to tread water in repayments for years! I have fooled myself with it continuously.

Same thinking for cargo bikes ... Multiple users on the same rig. No real concerns for weight.

Great threat guys..
I'm 45 but in my head, especially when I'm riding I feel like a teenager again.
Thankfully I'm in a job that is interesting but stressful at times. It pays well enough and I'm not dodging bullets so I can't complain. Hours are long sometimes and that eats into riding time but I can take days / time back so it balances out.
I'm fit, despite some injuries along the way but thankfully I have all my bit in the right place, plus some metal in one leg. :^)

I have an amazing gorgeous wife who indulges my bike interest with no problem. I'm also blessed with two beautiful and amazing kids. They're 13 and 17 and thankfully I love being with them and them with me. At the moment I do find they're either at school, studying, trying to wear out the internet or out with their friends. Honestly, I'm glad they're having the life teenagers should have but I wonder how they'd cope should money get tight.

My philosophy, I just want people to stop interfering with other people and their stuff. Be nice, treat people how you'd like to be treated, and if you have a dog please pick up after it.

I love playing music, especially bass guitars and Saxophones.

The range of bikes I have is currently under review. I'm very tall and all legs and arms so XXL is what fits. Might sell the HT 29 and get something else.

Vasectomy - best decision ever. No pain, done under local but one's choice of underwear in the week following is important. Weirdest bit was the surgeon talking about golf whilst at the critical point and I'm thinking, "Hmmm, don't think about your swing now!"

Back to bikes, love them. It's been great for making new friends and I'm blessed to have mates and have such a laugh caning Lysterfield or the YY if we fancy a little variety.

Dropper posts rock.. Wouldn't be without them but they can be awkward when you're not running 1x10 / 11 set up.

I'm 54 so might make me the most ancient one around here. Shopping for my first 29er, having done a bit of careful 26" tooling around of late on some local paths. Not really keen on getting seriously airborne, but want some fun. Still don't know what I want - story of my life basically.

You need a Giant................
You're also just a yung 'un. I'm 57, still riding, gave up DH competition at your age. Occasionally racing Enduro. Getting fit again ready for next year.
